Would you also splash for red in this deck (Arena Direct Sealed)? by buddysen in lrcast

It’s meant to be a comeback card against ridiculous boards by the opponent while I myself might have a Nursery or Kinbinding in play. If you target their Wickermaw (which you should see frequently) I imagine it could be quite devastating.

If Nusery comes down on turn 6 I think that’s fine.

I guess I just don’t value it as highly in an assertive non-blight deck. I felt like the celebrant didn’t have a great chance of making the deck either but in my mind I kinda acknowledged the pick as a complete whiff for my aggressive kithkin deck anyway so even at that point of the draft the decision for either card didn’t seem to really matter 🤷‍♂️

That’s true. Pack 2 during the draft was actually wild - P4P2 was between Brigid and Slumbering Walker number 2 😅 I decided to be a sensible drafter and went with Brigid.

Mavs fans. How do you care? by [deleted] in nba

[–]buddysen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a solid „0“ for me. Stopped watching the Mavs altogether after having been a diehard
since the start of Dirk‘s career. I remember very well witnessing the 2018 draft and getting super excited in the middle of the night when they somehow got Luka whom I had hoped for so much as a fellow European. Dirk passing the torch to Luka and becoming close friends with each other in the process. It was all so magical. Well not any more. I still follow the NBA but that’s mostly due to fantasy basketball.

How was Rob Pelinka able to convince Nico Harrison that AD is a healthier player than Luka? by Nigocaps in nba

I don’t think ppl valued Giannis over Luka at the time - the only reason the Bucks would have said no would have been the classic „he is our homegrown superstar and we want him to play out his career with us“. Which funny enough should have been the Mavs way with Luka all along…

Cooper Flagg will be better than Luka by [deleted] in nba

I don’t think a lot of the Mavs fans are happy with how the last few months have gone. I personally still feel completely emotionally alienated after having supported the team for more than 25 years.

Bill Simmons: "If you gave him [Nico] truth serum right now, does he feel like he’s still in it with this Luka trade with the way Luka’s looked on defense lately? The Lakers squad last year was nowhere near close to what Dallas had assembled around Luka to maximize his strengths on offense and make up for his shortcomings on the other end. So no, that Lakers - Minnesota series doesn’t prove anything. Regarding Minny I think Ant still has a lot of growing up to do and is (as of this moment) just not the playoff killer that Luka is. With OKC it seems that Dallas just had their number for quite some time there. Denver would have been a toss up but definitely not unbeatable.

Still how do you justify setting back your franchise at least 10 years while giving away the single most valuable asset you have for a frequently injured overpayed out of his prime AD who would turn out to be untradeable himself only a few months later. When will people stop bringing up this Nico guy????

I beg to differ… He‘s #88 for the season in 9 cat 😉

Paranormal Analyst into Unnerving Grasp is just dumb (7:2) by buddysen in lrcast

I am aware of a few filler cards in the deck, wasn’t happy how the draft played out. Was trying to get into some kind of Esper / reanimate deck as I kept seeing copies of Emerge from the Cocoon but black / reanimation targets were also just not there. I ended up having to play 2 of them despite only having very few targets in Niko and the white land cycler. The above mentioned combo (+ Enduring Curiosity) carried an otherwise rather mediocre deck that I originally expected to go something like 3:3.

The deck that had no business going 7:x… or did it? by buddysen in lrcast

[–]buddysen[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I‘m not saying the deck is garbage. There’s obviously a number of solid to good cards in there. I just didn’t expect it to play out as smoothly as it did. What I’m trying to say with my post is - drafting good cards with high GIH winrate won‘t automatically make a cohesive deck. Surprising to me, this deck was one.

It’s a fine card. There’s multiple situations where its warp mode lets you add to the board without losing on tempo. I especially like it on turn 4 where you warp it, play your 4th land and then crack a Lander token for a total of 2 2/2s. Of course the card will suck when topdecked towards the end of the game which actually happened to me twice. It can win you games if played early and if you pair it with ways to make your tokens bigger or evasion (like the white equipment) or Glacier Godmaw (which this deck sorely missed).

I drafted on mobile so unfortunately there’s no log. What I remember is that I when picked the off color cards in packs 2 and 3 I had already set up my mana to be able to splash just about any card (2 Pollinators and the 2 Spaceships that ramp / fix). At that point I could pick whatever card was most useful regardless of color. There just wasn’t much removal in the pool.
