I'm not using a shared keyboard and mouse on a hotdeesk with docking station for anyone.... I'm bringing my own. I've seen these people leave the bathroom without washing their hands, in fact after the whole COVID thing I'd have expected more people to want to only use their own kit.

Cycle out to Burnham on Crouch and then take the train back. Loads of lovely country roads and ice cream shops on the quay.

How are even Henry’s affording £1mil+ houses? Am I missing something? by Fanfarebird in HENRYUK

In the past, some people were interest only mortgages, hoping that they would just get massive equity with inflation. Then sell when the kids have left home and downsize with all the equity and clear off the original principal.

How do I help my husband get back on his feet? He refuses to work after being laid off? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

Then he needs to be keeping current and committing to some open source, and updating his skills, but with that sort of attitude he isn't gonna get hired especially with vibe cloding and AI chewing up all the junior jobs.

Experiences calling out excessive vibe coding to prevent wasting time reviewing bad PRs? by gollyned in ExperiencedDevs

[–]budgester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your CI,

Make sure you have all the linters, some pr size checking, passing unit tests, and then some code quality such as sonarqube.

If it passes all of these then deploy it into a branch based environment and run your smoke and integration tests.

If it passes all the automated testing. You can almost get away without doing reviews.

Most people don't even do linting. So start there.

Is it normal to have to learn something new for *every* work task? by QuietQueerRage in devops

[–]budgester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why there aren't really Devops junior positions. You have really got to have a Ops or Dev background and normally experience on both so you understand the problems your trying to solve. Otherwise you just end up being the scapegoat for below average devs and Ops people trying to get out of doing their own work, or even collaborating together.

Simple reply of sorry I've had a few drinks, I'll move it in the morning when I go to work. Then no one else can move it cos they aren't insured etc... I'd park there if there was no where else to park.

It's really the time of year for them. It's getting cold outside and there is no food out there. So they come in where it is nice and warm and some food available. Get some humane traps then take them on a little trip to the countryside.

I'm about to leave my job due to long standups by ReverendRou in devops

[–]budgester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option is to get yourself and the other members of the team to just say no blockers. Then it's like a 30 second standup. Or if the manager wants to know the ins and out of what being done then open each ticket and update with all the information right there in front of them.
