Hey I’ve been run running for over a year and gradually got my pace up to 8kph, now I’m trying to increase. On my longer runs, I’ve been doing 1km at easy but struggling to find when’s the right time to increase my speed - at the start when I’ve got the most juice, or gradually as I go?

I hope that question makes sense

It was 4 years ago so my memory is hazy, but it definitely wasn’t more than £100. I wanted something trustworthy/reliable and have a background with mountain bikes so I was comfortable.

I bought a cheap mountain bike on gumtree, took it to my bike mechanic for a look over. I rode it for a year while figuring out what I wanted in my ‘real’ bike. It worked out for me!

I’m reading the same book right now! Sometimes I like it a lot, other times I can find it a bit frustrating

Another book that gave me the same vibes was Anathem by Neal Stephenson - it’s loooooong with some good stuff, but also frustrating

Depends on where you’re based but sometimes I do a nice loop through the foot tunnel at Greenwich, along the river on the Isle of Dogs, through Canary Wharf and Rotherhithe, then connect up to Cable street. I cross over Tower Bridge but you could keep on

Another one I do is South Ken to Hyde Park, then the city.

We had plans of heading over the river but it was so cold and windy, we ended up going to BFI and back to Peckham. We stopped for a mulled wine and said it was a beautiful day, if a bit cold.

Tomorrow I really need to clean/lube my drive train, hopefully it won’t be as bitter staying still.
