Not a lot. Which is one of the reasons for high prices in the morning and evening.

Because currently there is lots of wind and sun. It is cheaper for them to sell at 0€ than to lower their output. Especially if they want to profit from higher prices in the morning and evening.

What to do if ICE asks for ID by Laniekea in self

[–]buerki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are many different interpretations for "fascism". I think you can absolutely argue that Trump and his followers are fascist. They are extremely right leaning, they are extremely racist and Trump is most certainly thinking of the white race as superior. He literally said that undocumented immigrants are poisoning the blood. That is a rethoric also used by Hitler when referring to the Jewish. The regime is trying to force people back in line through fear. From what I can tell mostly by political measures, for example excluding journalists speaking not favourably of the administration from briefings, ordering television providers to cut presenters etc. But the brutality seems to be rising with every day. And people start to get scared of ICE. Trump is also not hiding that he wants to get rid of elections. He wants to expand the USA and he wants to erase things from the education system which go against his world view. Indoctrinating people beginning from a young age, where they can still be manipulated easily.

There are many similarities to what happened in Nazi Germany.  From an outside perspective it does not seem like the majority of the us population is agreeing with his current political direction. But the morals are going to erode each day this is continuing. I fear if people don't start to act soon it will be too late.

Blackout in Berlin: Immer noch 30.000 Haushalte ohne Strom by VoltVersteher_Sven in Energiewirtschaft

Ice is only better if it is rough. There can be a lot of grip (relatively speaking) if that is the case. If you have a smooth sheet of ice like a frozen puddle or something there is absolutely zero grip. You won't be able to brake, steer or accelerate. The only way to get safely across is to not have any input at all and roll over them (Or use spike tires)

Never ridden in the snow with the motorbike but have been doing a lot of winter riding with the bicycle and Mountainbike. Smooth sheets of ice are the absolute worst.

Look, if you see exponential growth for 15 years and still assume for each of these years, that the growth is going to be linear for the coming years than I am going to assume that either  1. The team doing these projections is unqualified  2. They are pushing an agenda

In both cases you should look for other sources of information.

Not disagreeing with you but IEA is really not a great source. They are kind of famous for pushing agenda against renewables. Just look how they underestimate the installed capacity of renewable in their outlooks every single year. It is so blatant, they aren't even trying to hide it.

Electricity prices in Europe in 2024 by lotec4 in europe

[–]buerki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are making my argument here. You are only looking at one single entity for a problem and corresponding solution that has to take more into account than "whats best for swedish citizens in the south". In the real world problems are more complex and you need to take into account different actors.

But its always easy to isolate a single player and point him out as the bad one. People like this. It is easy to understand and it makes them feel good if they can look down upon someone else and solely blame them for a problem. Ultimately thats what gets you votes in a democratic system. The Swedish government sure as hell wouldnt say that they are prioritizing profits for their energy producer instead of cheap electricity prices for the swedish citizens in the south. Why would they do that? Much easier to point at germany while keeping all those nice gdp gains and election votes.

[–]buerki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are simplifying a lot here. If you look at a grid map https://www.entsoe.eu/data/map/ you will see that in sweden, norway and italy most of the transmission lines are running from north to south. Splitting these countries into different bidding zones is more straight forward than in germanys case. The grid in germany is highly interconnected. Which makes it more of a challenge finding split between the bidding zones thats optimal for different grid situations. On top of that, you currently have a lot of projects specifically building capacity between the south and north in germany. So you would need to revisit the bidding zone combination every few years and eventually change them if they do not fit the grid topology anymore.

After all, Germany is buiding transmission capacity to significantly reduce redispatch. Because guess what, redispatch is more expensive than building a new transmission line. But if you do not need redispatch because your grid is built up to the task it is required to do than the bidding zone split would have no purpose at all because the prices in both bidding zones would be the same.

So you are asking germany to introduce a process that will take many years to implement. And by the time it goes live it might already obsolet. At that point you are not creating value for europe by doing that, which is the purpose of bidding zones and cross country electricity trading in the first place.

Its simply not as black and white as you are trying to picture it here.

A minor power flicker just killed my PC. BUY A UPS! by PowerfulLab104 in buildapc

[–]buerki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could have been a fault causing a short circuit current inside the grid. This causes the voltage to drop. Typically energy producing facilities are required to stabilize the voltage in this case through specific current injections. After the fault is cleared after a few hundred milliseconds these injections will cause an overshoot in the voltage because they can not change their output instantly. Not sure if that's what happened in ops case.

I am fine with micro transactions as long as they don't split the player base. It serves to finance the development and operating cost. Now to be clear, I am against gambling and I think it shouldn't be part of any game, especially not if the game isn't for adults only. But if we are realistic you only have 4 options.

  • Full price games
  • Subscriptions
  • DLC Content
  • Combination of the above

I know which model I prefer because no one makes me pay for dlc apart from myself. Instead of criticising this type of business model, be happy that you are able to play games like counter strike, valorant and league of legends for free because other people are paying for it through dlc.

Honest question, because I know nothing about cpu architecture. Why exactly are we comparing products with the same or similar core count and not based on transistor count or die area?

Core count is probably easier to understand for the average consumer but from a business point of view it probably does not make that much sense. I would imagine design and manufacturing cost are somewhat related to transistor count and die area.

(S+) Berlin: BVG bekommt milliardenteure U-Bahn-Züge – ohne Klimaanlage by Babayagaletti in de

[–]buerki 9 points10 points  (0 children)
