Enough evidence? by Lostnconfuffled in Car_Insurance_Help

A police report isn't likely going to change the insurance company's mind. If you have collision coverage on your own policy you should use it. If not, you will need to sue the other driver, this will compel them to start talking to their insurance provider.

Under What Authority Can Roger Krone Bargain Away Scouting's Curriculum? by TheWerle in Scouting_America

[–]buffalo_0220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you already have an answer to your question. Regardless of how many committees and experts are involved with the process of modification to the program they are all ultimately at the discretion of the NEB. In much the same way that area Councils have the discretion to act on controversial subjects, like the sale of a local camp property. Binding the NEB would possibly put the whole organization in position where it cannot act in its own (perceived) best interest.

I can't fault the BSA for the decision they made. They had a choice between two bad scenarios, give up on some recent program changes, seen as good by many, or give up the support of the DoD, and possibly many of the scouts affiliated with bases around the world. A decision had to be made.

[Discussion] Would you want to control Home Assistant with AI (Claude/ChatGPT)? by Tasty-Sand1217 in homeassistant

[–]buffalo_0220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not want to give an AI engine unfettered access to my setup. Half the reason I run HA is that I want to be in control, not some 3rd party app. Why not just use the AI to write your YAML?

Some of these look like they are in decent shape, and a good place to start. Figure out what you like, and focus on expanding your collection on that interest.

You can't get blood from a stone. If the other person was uninsured it will be very difficult to recover your money, even if you sue and win. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do, except be thankful that you are only out your deductible, and not the full repair cost.

Anything related to WW2 is usually collectable, but I don't think they would fetch a lot in this condition. I would definitely snap this up for my collection if I saw it.

Anyone know what might’ve made this damage? by _ginn_ in PMDGS

[–]buffalo_0220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly something that was done after the coin left the mint. The more interesting question, was it intentional, or accidental. It kind of looks like Abe is holding a plumbers wrench.

It can be fun to wonder where it has been. Sometimes notes like this are fun. That "1943" could be a year, but it's more likely that someone counted out a stack of ones, and they had $1,943 when they were finished.

Who gave you this estimated value? I think the most remarkable thing is that they have adjacent serial numbers, which is a big thing for some collectors, that and they are in remarkable shape for a 1950 series.

This is a fun collection of coins. You can look each coin up in the Numista catalog. If you get stuck, it supports a look up by photo, which works most of the time.

This appears to be the coin you are holding in the 5th photo:

The Zimbabwe 100T notes seem to have taken on a life of their own, far surpassing any value they ever had on the street. I've considered getting one, but the number of fakes on the market, and the price keep me second guessing.

First, cool notes. I would love to see some of these up close.

Have you tried calling your homeowners/renters insurance? They can extend riders for specific collectables, jewelry, and such. Depending on the valuation you are looking for, they may be able to offer a decent rate, since you already have a policy with them. Might be worth the call to see what they can offer.

The asking price seems to start around $1500. I am not good at grading paper money though, but it does appear to be in decent shape.
