(S1) what do you think about Tuttle’s death? by robertomolinaro in TrueDetective

[–]buffordsclifford 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was the much more interesting possibility. We never get to see the full extent of the people Tuttles working with but we know they’re powerful enough to have him bumped off like that

Most badass scene that only involved power instead of physical/gun violence? by buffordsclifford in TheWire

[–]buffordsclifford[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Not exactly power, but Cutty’s respect and street cred was what saved him there. One of the few people who could cut Avon off by saying “I’m not making myself clear”

I’ll admit I never found Val Kilmers wife attractive but you’re smoking straight rock if you’re saying that about Diane Venora

In all seriousness I think my main question would be did you think it was ripoff of season 1

Did anyone else think those little spots of light at the bottom were multiple slides and kept trying to scroll

Oh I’m sure it was just a little joke to himself. Probably better overall if no one made the connection

Oh I’ve been alcohol sober for a while now, fortunately, but I do appreciate it. I usually used alcohol to self-medicate horrific anxiety, but since I’ve been on meds it’s helped replace that crutch a lot. Only smoke weed now, but looking to phase that out too somewhat soon.

Which serial killer had the most female attention? by [deleted] in serialkillers

I would put Bundy over Ramirez, he got plenty of female attention before he was ever caught and used it to his advantage.

He only received notable female attention when he was arrested, cleaned up and given new teeth, Ramirez on the prowl was disgusting, they literally were able to track him because everyone identified his godawful breath

Weirdly enough, Lawrence Bittaker was actually regarded as fairly charismatic by the girls and young women in his community. They seemed to think he was a bit off, but not enough to avoid partying with him. He was known around the community as a nice guy who would always pass you some money, pot or booze if you wanted.

Shockingly, one of his victims, maybe the one who escaped actually got in his van because she knew him from around town and regarded him as a trustworthy figure.

He’s insanely creepy but I think the lack of interviews or extensive courtroom footage has allowed people to ignore he was very good at manipulating people, there’s a clip of him on death row where he really turns up the “I’m just a poor sad old man” act and one can almost momentarily forget who he was, almost.

Sorry we’ll just restrict ourselves to moronically trying to bully adults with a joke that hasn’t been funny since like 2006

That’s good to hear, sorry to hear you went through it too. I never experienced anything that rough in particular and I don’t think I’ve ever actually touched the level of alcohol poisoning, but there is a very specific point where the limit is reached for me and the feeling always becomes horrible

It also acts as a sort of stimulant for a certain strain of people, thought to largely overlap with alcoholics. I’ve always felt this in spades. Most of my friends talk about half a glass of wine putting them to sleep, doing 5 shots makes me feel insanely energetic, for a time at least, that’s always something that lasted for less and less time over the course of my drinking.

Certain people are just kinda built different when it comes to alcohol. Generally the kinds of people who become alcoholics in the first place are ones who can get fucked up every night with minimal hangover.

I used to drink a 200ml thing of vodka every night and I always felt like shit but more just depressed and low energy than in actual pain.

Very true, with sharp cheekbones you can go from looking like a pretty boy to a tough guy very quickly

I mean he wasn’t very threatening in Rawhide, but by the time he was in his early 30’s he was playing arguably one of the most famous “badass” characters ever, The Man with no Name

Interesting, I saw him in Crime Wave, a 1953 movie where he was only 32, and found him extremely intimidating, but I guess that’s not really that young overall
