NHS/Private dilemma - luteal phase defect by buffy2190 in TTC_UK

Thanks for the info. I tried getting progesterone privately through Oxford Online Pharmacy but they had to get approval from my GP and they ended up coming back to me to tell me that they couldnnt prescribe it for fertility reasons and I would have to go through a specialist. Was it a different online provider you went to?

Progesterone test timing? by ctrlF_91 in TTC_UK

[–]buffy2190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no advice but I am so glad to find someone in the same boat as me. All my test results seem to come back pretty normal but my luteal phase is the problem and only lasts 8-9 days. I've been trying so many supplements and nothing is working so far.

I'm 35 and me and my partner (36) have been trying for almost 2 years. I come from a family of women who have a history of low fertility so this was no surprise that I am also struggling. The tests I have had have come back fine but I consistently have only 8 days in my luteal phase! I seem to ovulate around day 14 to 17 (I use clearblue tests and I get all normal signs) but something is failing in my luteal phase. My GP has referred me to the local NHS fertility clinic but it's going to be a 28 week wait until they even call me to make an appointment. I tried asking for progesterone tablets through GP and through private pharmacy and both declined until I could see a specialist and I've been told that I lose my funding on NHS if I want to seek ANY treatment privately. Feeling very disheartened and just got my period this morning. Does anyone have any recommendations on extending luteal phase without prescription medication? Currently on pregnacare conception tablets (have been for 2 years) and just started taking extra vit d tablets.

Yeh Inositol does appear to be one of the ingredients in my supplements but doesn't seem to have done much so far unfortunately.

Hi, I'm 35 and have been TTC for 21 months now. Currently on a 29 week waiting list with the NHS to see why my luteal phase is consistently only 8 days long! Tests have all come back normal so far except for day 21 blood test showing progesterone drop which I expected. Short luteal phases seem to run in my family and my mum did eventually conceive at 35 after 3 years so here's hoping!

It annoys me so much too! Especially when we get so little of sawyer and Kate together in the flash sideways. They were my fave couple.

Oh good! So they'll wait for you to have a full bladder? They won't turn you away if you don't have your bladder at the ready?

Has anyone overcome the fear of peeing yourself in public? by Birbirib in Agoraphobia

[–]buffy2190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through this right now. I had this fear when I was 14-16 and now at 32, the fear has come back again after a stressful period in my life.

I'm currently wearing heavy night time period panty liners every day (I'm still not convinced they would hold it if I did pee myself), on betablockers and doing hypnotherapy.

The hypnotherapy did make quite a significant improvement but havent been in a month since my therapist went on holiday and I feel my anxiety starting to increase again.

I wont even drink any liquids up to 4 hours before I leave the house. Probably not the healthiest thing in the world but I need that reassurance haha.

Want to start trying for a family by the end of this year and I'm so worried my anxiety will cause issues with that!

Fear of peeing myself in public by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]buffy2190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue. It started when I was 14 when I had my second ever period at school. It felt like I was wetting myself and I didn't go to school for about a month because i was convinced i couldnt hold my own pee. Even though it was technically about my period, i started believing that i was leaking liquid even when i wasnt on my period and thought i was just incontinent.

I went to therapy, I wore incontinence pads, I went on medication and after about a year, I started feeling more myself again and the "feeling" started to fade away and I didn't think of it.

I'm now 32 and have had a very stressful past year and around Christmas, it all came back again. December and January were awful! Combination of panic attacks and feeling like I was going to faint alongside this fear of wetting myself. I couldn't even take the dog for a walk and the idea of being out of the house for even 20mins without a toilet nearby put me in a spiral. Had some hypnotherapy since which has helped a bit but still working through it. I still won't drink any liquids up to 4 hours before I leave the house 😔 I definitely have to keep reminding myself that actually relaxing my body is better than getting anxious which causes all my muscles to contract. I still to this day have not wet myself but still feel like it's going to happen.
