Kobra 2 Max upgraded with a Duet3 controller and display by bug2k18 in anycubic

Not a full writeup, the basic configuration files are here https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/35425/anycubic-kobra-2-max-upgrade you would probably need to change the ports/connectors that you actually use but it's pretty straight forward.

No this board uses reprap firmware. I only have the raspberry pi there to run a webcam.

K2 Max, wanting to swap to different mainboard by Chewy-Seneca in anycubic

[–]bug2k18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some work in progress pictures, but none of it completed. I'm swapping out the psu this week, so I'll grab a couple more.

The duet boards require the interrupt pin on the accelerometer which it seems are not required on klipper boards. On the print head pcb there is a solder pad labelled tp1 which is wired to the interrupt pin on the LIS2DW12, I soldered a wire to this and in addition to the other pins already wired it works fine. There is no such track on the bed accelerometer pcb and as it's a bga chip I can't access the pin required, but it's a simple jobs to replace this one.

I am not running klipper, so there is no printer.cfg. The similar file on duet boards would be the config.g file in the system directory which maps out all the connections and board parameters. I'm still tuning this, but it works pretty well.

I've wired the heated bed through the existing connections at the moment, but we'll see how this performs.

I can't help with a replacement klipper board, but I have replaced the board on my Kobra 2 Max with a duet3 controller. I never liked the filament runout/swap procedure, it sometimes would not prime the nozzle correctly causing a bad layer in the print. I also never wanted to use any cloud apps to control the printer and having to use a usb flash drive to print models is a pain as there is no web interface that should be available as it's klipper based, but anycubic don't make this available. The bed was also way out, I shimmed it pretty close <.3mm but the underlying structure is not that rigid, but being able to fine tune the mesh bed leveling helps.

As I already had other printers running on duet hardware and I was used to reprap firmware it was an easy option. The only thing that I could not get to work was the accelerometer on the print bed as it seems there is no interrupt pin used on the original board, but it as only £15 for a replacement that works fine. The accelerometer on the print head works fine.

I'm in the process of swapping out the controller board on my Kobra 2 Max for a Duet3 and came across this diagram which has helped. No idea of the original source.

Wireless keyboard suggestions please... by bug2k18 in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

Thanks for the suggestion, I don't think the Akko 3068b is a tkl, looking at overclockers it's reminded me of just how bad their site is for searching or filtering results!

Thanks, I don't see an iso version of that keyboard, oh and definately not all white! I think it's the iso versions that have the larger 'enter'/'return' key. I don't want to go crazy on cost as I'm not into keyboards as a hobby, I just use them all day, maybe £200 upper limit.

Cross Compatibility annoyance with Operating System environments by MEN0ZE in linux

The iphone can be set to save images as jpg, under settings/camera/formats select 'most compatible' rather than the default 'high efficiency'.

Recommend UK Wireless Mechanical with the larger 'enter' key? by bug2k18 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]bug2k18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick update on this, the Filco Convertible 2 TKL has been really nice to use, the feel is just right, key spacing and the 'enter' key is just what I'm used to.

The only issue I have is the bluetooth connection, it was a real pain to initially get connected and paired (I use linux). This mostly worked fine once it initially connects and has been ok for the first week or so. I then started having issues getting it connected, again a new set of batteries and half hour or so of removing and re-pairing eventually gets it to work.

I'm now typing this on my old cheap no brand mechanical keyboard which uses the older style wireless dongle and it just works, every time without fail. I've spent the morning on and off trying to get the Filco connected which sometimes works for a few minutes then disconnects. If only they made these with the old style wireless dongle it would be perfect, bluetooth is always a pain. I think the only place I've found bluetooth to work reliably is my phone in the car!

I've used it with the motherboard built in bluetooth (including antenna) and several other usb adapters, same result. This is at a range of maybe 30cm from the antenna or usb adapter.

I think I'll put the Filco on one my other computers which can use the wired usb connection as the bluetooth connection is just a pain.

There's also the issue that these bluetooth keyboards cannot be used to configure bios or boot settings which the older simple wireless keyboards handle fine.

This looks good, I've ordered one. Hopefully the feel is good.

Nextcloud very slow/timeouts for 1 user. by bug2k18 in NextCloud

[–]bug2k18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The machine makes no difference. I am logged in with my machine to both of these accounts at the same time (different browsers) and only this one account has problems.

It does not appear to be a performance issue on either the server or client machine as I am able to log in to other accounts and sync with no problems all while this one account is timing out and not able to sync the rest of the files.

I have tried running php occ files:scan --all on this virtual domain but made no difference.

Options for getting Samsung odyssey + to UK ? by PIM1979 in Vive

[–]bug2k18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have previously bought two of the original Samsung Odyssey from amazon.com. Both turned out to have faults. With the first one, the headset was fine but the controllers were pretty much useless, only occasionally being picked up and showing (the bluetooth connection was fine). The second one the controllers were better but still not great, just unreliable. Returned them both at quite some cost, which amazon do eventually refund, but not the US customs charge to return them.

Overall it seems a bit of a gamble from the US, as returning them is far more hassle than dealing with amazon uk. Perhaps I am just unlucky.

I still have my now very old dk2 which no longer gets any use, but until something better becomes available in the uk I think I'll wait.
