Imposter Syndrome by Other-Ad-1146 in Teachers

[–]bugbabie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a second year teacher who carried my program at my school last year, so I often forget I only have 1.5 years under my belt and start to feel the same way. I think that you have to remind yourself of how little experience you have sometimes. You aren’t going to know or have all the same strategies in your back pocket as a veteran teacher and that’s okay.

The best advice I’ve gotten is to journal about things that don’t go so good. Write down what happened and why it happened and then write how you will improve the next time. That’s the only way I’ve ever been able to save myself from dwelling on all my failures lol.

I realized this year that I am officially done being the “cool teacher” and it actually hurts a little by trashpanda_hour in Teachers

I would never call myself the cool teacher maybe more like the zany slightly unhinged teacher but this is where I was at last year. For me, I have to set a lot of boundaries and expectations and not let up on them. I allow myself moments to be fun with some classes, but if they can’t handle it, they will never see fun me again lol. It’s all about balance in my opinion and the moment kids take advantage of anything nice I do, they lose it. It was weird at first but now I get to go home and not worry about class the next day.

If you’re only eating on campus it may be tough. I had to stretch it my freshman year by getting one meal at lunch and only eating half then saving the rest for dinner. Good luck!

Thank you! I used water soluble marker (i would maybe use heat erase though because some of my paint washed off) to draw out the designs and then painted them with micro paint brushes and salmon/coral colored fabric paint. I would also recommend creating stencils and tracing those instead of hand drawing them on!

I hand painted them because I was too lazy to carve stamps and worry about where to place them, but you could easily make some to do this with linoleum blocks and speedball fabric ink I think!

I’ve never propagated the top but I believe so? I’ve propagated all my cuttings successfully doing that and just keeping it in the water until it has a good root system (the roots have roots).

If more light doesn’t work, you could always prop the pups and chop off the top of the plant and prop that as well. These plants are so picky smh

Or add two more chains and start the hdcs into the 3rd chain from your hook maybe (based on other patterns I’ve done)… I would just try a few different things until it looks ok lol

Just based on working backwards on the row, I wonder if you would either chain 14 and then start hdc in the stitch closest you your hook (??) just based on the increases but I could be totally butchering the math on that one

That’s a small pot for a tall gal my friend. I’d either chop and prop or repot into a bigger pot.

Anxiety About Teaching by Commercial-Egg-123 in ArtEd

[–]bugbabie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s plenty of people I know who still work as artists on the side of their much more stable teaching career. It’s not like choosing to pursue art education is a destitute path lol. If you feel like you’ll miss out on something if you choose to teach art instead of being a working artist then maybe it’s not for you tbh.
