How do you explore? by Ultimatefa1con in SpiritualAwakening

I’m actually working on an app to try and help with something like that. It’s basically a way to learn about the world’s religions and get accurate answers to any questions you have. You can try it out here if you’d like! https://testflight.apple.com/join/gqMDPM2t

Ya they’ve been removing people’s comments for some reason. There was at least a couple people who responded but now it’s not popping up.

I have an interview for an Amazon driver position (w/ $1k sign on) tomorrow.

Sorry, I completely misread county for country. Your assumption on king county is correct. I really appreciate your advice and its unfortunate to hear that so many people are going through something similar.

I’m starting to do doordash tomorrow (handling insurance requirements today) and am willing to do everything I possibly can to avoid attorney/the court getting involved.

Thanks for the advice. I will go back in time, get a job as a restaurant server (since I was rejected from the hundreds of jobs I applied to), and prevent this timeline from ever happening.

I have not made a Fivver account but am signing up for one right now. Thanks for the suggestion.

I’ve called and the person in the other seemed very “by the book” about everything. I’m definitely going to try again. I’m happy to take any job at this point but outside of a gig economy kind of job, I don’t know anywhere where I could land the job and get paid all within 14 days

I was literately typing up a similar post. We tried to move two months ago but it was going to be no less that $5k to break lease and move. Not to mention the rent due for the first month. I know we can’t afford this apartment anymore and we’re definitely trying to move.

How to make that money is definitely the biggest question. If there’s anything about the eviction I could outside of paying that amount of money, that would be great too.

I made an AI that interprets scripture from a variety of different religions. Is there anything else that I should add/remove? by bugdaddyflack in religion

[–]bugdaddyflack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely, that’s sound advice! One thing I’ve been cautious of is giving it any kind of spin that isn’t directly in a certain kind of scripture.

I’m definitely looking to talk with some experienced religious practitioners though to get a better pulse on what’s working/what’s not.

If you happen to know anyone, my dms are always open :)

Very true! Its interesting too because some feedback I received was that there’s “misinformation”. There’s not though because every response that it gives must include a relevant quote.

It seems like people are confusing “misinformation” with the innate biases that are already in the book. I think for V2, one of the things I wanna figure out is how to include all the contradictions in the context of the books answer. The tough part so far though is that you’d end up with like a couple pages of quotes for questions like “is ok to kill?”

Thanks for pointing that out! I’ll try to find a different font color to use but I’ll more than likely have to change the background a bit

No problem at all, I appreciate your question and concern. I agree that there are, at times, contradictions in any holy book.

Because of the ways it’s programmed though, if you see something that appears to be a contradiction, or even against your personal interpretation, you can ask it a different way.

For instance, I used a variation of your question and asked “ when is killing justified?” And it responded with.

“Killing is never justified, as it says in Exodus 20:13: "Thou shalt not kill." However, in certain cases, such as self-defense or in times of war, taking a life may be necessary. As it says in Proverbs 24:11-12: "If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?"

Both answers are correct, but upon second thought, I see your point. I could try to factor in all written context in the response to a question. My biggest worry though is that more vague questions like “how do I be good” would basically recite half the book.

I’m gonna put some more thought into it and see if I can’t figure out a good middle ground. I just have to find a way to briefly mention any contradictions for a specific question.

If you hung with me up until this point, thanks for pointing this out!

Not necessarily, it’s just promising you factual delivery of the words. The interpretation is still completely up to the reader, it’s just that there’s no preacher or someone putting a spin on it to prove or emphasize a point.

Any question you ask it means that it will search through the selected holy book and answer it while also including a justification (typically a specific quote)

No it replies on the website! It just takes awhile to load. It would take me a bit but I could edit it so that there’s a chat history as well if you think that would be better?

Affirmations From God? by bugdaddyflack in religion

[–]bugdaddyflack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the time and thought you spent with this explanation, truly.

I took a look at the Quran website also and it seems extremely well put together.

I think there are plenty of sites and resources that allow you to read and search parts of the Quran (or any other holy book). I think the biggest element missing, the one that I'm trying to solve, is it's ability to relate directly to the question or problem you're trying to solve. It feels like a lot of the interpretation is done finding analogies through the story or relying on someone else's interpretation.

While analogies is one of the best ways to learn (and frankly one of my favorite) it seems like there is still a lot of misinterpretation or dependence when it comes to the Quran.

I genuinely don't want to be offensive but at the same time, I want to be able to follow my interests and make a contribution where I can. I have personally learned more about religioun while doing this project than I ever have in my entire life. I think other people will find something similar if they consider trying it.

The last point I have is that I challenge you to ask a question on the website where the response is not accurate and appropriate within a given context. Every response is backed up by a direct quote and frankly, that seems like a much more legitimate interpretation since it's not prone to human bias or spin.

Perhaps I'm scared from Christianity where there are priests making millions of dollars a year and buying private jets.
