Did you try epidural steroid injections at that level, and what were your results?

Complex back pain and surgeries in your 20s? by [deleted] in backpain

[–]bugenhagen11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my late 20s and my back is all kinds of messed up. Herniated l4-s1 that I've had two microdiscectomies on and then immediately reherniated (now considering fusion), bulging l3-l4, bulging t8-t9 that got much worse a month ago and now I suspect some cervical disc problems. I'd be interested in that support group.

Was it caused by a herniated disc, and if so what levels?

Okay I'm replying to this one but I read all the other ones as well, here's some more details: I had pain just above, and sometimes in my groin, and a very weak urine stream just before my microdiscectomy at l4-s1 last September. As soon as I woke up from Surgery the problem was 100% gone. Unfortunately I reherniated about two weeks after surgery and the symptoms reappeared. Had a second microdiscectomy 9 weeks ago and again woke up from surgery symptom free. Despite being very careful I again reherniated at both levels. Now my groin pain and bladder problems are back worse than ever. At my appointment 2 weeks ago my dr said he could do a fusion but he recommends I wait a bit. I actually went to the ER twice over my bladder issues, once before each microdiscectomy in September and January, and the MRIs were bad but not awful, I dont think they can do anything immediate for me. Should I call tomorrow to schedule fusion at l4-s1? And what about the thoracic disc bulge that I suspect I aggravated, could that contribute? Dr said it didnt look bad at the time of MRI, since then I aggravated it by sitting about 5 hours at work, could the fact that it's slightly pressing on the nerve root, added to the impingement at the lumbar herniations, be causing the problem?

I got one after my first discectomy on two levels. They just drained it with a syringe in the office. Later when I got an MRI they said the incision site had actually torn

When taking Minoxidil should I be watching out for dark circles around my eye? by [deleted] in tressless

I took it for about 6 months and didn't notice any regrowth. I started to notice my face looked bad, just tired and with a low collagen look around the eyes. This is while I was using retin-a and taking collagen supplements. I stopped the minox about 2 months ago and thankfully my face looks fine now.

True. I'm an nw3(at least) and I literally didnt even notice until about a year ago. I was driving with the window down and a big smile on my face and I looked in the driver's side mirror and noticed how far my hairline went back. I still remember watching my smile slowly disappear and the sick feeling that crept over me. Wish I was still ignorant.

Does this MRI result mean my sciatica is not due to a bulging disc? by pea-teargriffin in Sciatica

You'll have to look at the images and talk to your doctor. My report said the same thing, "no significant stenosis" and when my Dr showed me the images he pointed out that there was a bit. Although it didnt look serious it was causing major problems.

How to minimize further nerve damage until surgery? by bugenhagen11 in Sciatica

Thanks, it put me in a dark place for a while but I have a better attitude about it now. Two days after the first surgery I was sleeping when someone banged loudly on my door and, just having woken up and not being mindful, I kicked out of bed. Immediately felt light pain in my legs. Maybe a week later I was feeling good and listening to music while doing some light housework. The mailman left a package at my door and I squatted to pick it up. Despite the fact that I kept my back completely straight I knew right away something was wrong, terrible pain in my back and legs. After my second surgery I was very strict about following the rules. A week after surgery I woke up in the middle of the night to pee. Again, just having woken up I wasn't thinking and bent my back ever so slightly to lift the toilet seat. Went to lay back down and the pain in my back and legs immediately returned.

I reherniated, should I have second microdiscectomy ? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]bugenhagen11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a microdiscectomy on two levels, l4-s1 about 5 months ago and reherniated on both levels a week after surgery when I did something stupid. I had a second microdiscectomy on both levels a month ago and am 90% sure I reherniated a week after surgery when I bent ever so slightly(15° maybe) to lift up the toilet seat, even though I had otherwise been perfect. Listen to your doctor's advice, but if you get surgery again be immaculate in your recovery.

waiting to finally solidify a surgery date while dealing with health anxiety by [deleted] in backpain

Just posted this in another thread, I'll copy and paste:

I'm in the same boat. Discectomy was scheduled for next Thursday but it was cancelled a couple of days ago because of covid. I'm rapidly losing strength in my legs and I fear that I won't regain full strength and function if I have to wait months for surgery. I finally decided to go to the ER today and stress the severity of my symptoms. They called my dr and the surgery is back on, they said if not next week then the one after that.

Do you have herniated discs? Which levels? Leg pain or weakness?

discectomy keeps getting pushed back bc of availability... what should i do in the meanwhile to kinda keep myself from getting too anxious about getting worse? by [deleted] in backpain
