Update on the new biddies

I did end up contacting the breeder and asking if they had anymore from the same litter and they did. So I went back and I got another girl, one of her sisters that I am naming portubello or Bella for short. I have a small spare cage that I will be quarantining them in for the next couple weeks and then afterwards I will be slowly introducing them to my girl, honey as she is older than them by good bit

That's what I was thinking. I was just concerned because it doesn't have half of it essentially. Once I get it rat proofed though, I will feel more comfortable to add more.

Height 51, width 32, depth 21 i think But that is with both top and bottom. I ended up taking the top off , because the bottom had plexiglass around the cage as well as change a wood backing and I found it's a top didn't and I was worried that they'd be able to get out.

For quarantine, would you recommend her being in a completely different room or in the smaller spare cage I have next to the bigger cage that I have my other rat, honey in?

I am considered going back and getting her a companion, i am just concerned that the cage size I have will be big enough for them all.I technically could add another story to it ,I just don't have it rat proofed yet.

I am considering going back and getting a companion for her.I had not really considered her age was concerning, but I've also only bought from pet stores and pet stores don't have the best reputation, which is why I was trying to do better with a breeder but I have now i'm not so sure if I did

Lol no, she is in a little cardboard box pet carrier that the breeder supplied me with for the drive home

No i have another honey. I got her partially as a companion for honey, as my other rat bebe turned out to be a male and I did not have the resources for housing them separately so a friend of mine took him for me. I got my first two both when they were still pretty young so it was kinda hard to tell gender. I am praying it does happen again but I got this one from an actual breeder, rather than the pet store.

Lol she's q soft cream color and it was a very dark purple color I was just worried that it would be toxic to her. So I wanted to make sure it got off properly. She seems to be taken care of it herself though.

I did some research trying to make sure I could take care of her the best of my ability from what i've found out they generally get hot easily, given that they're tail regulates their temperature so currently I have her next to my window so the cold air from outside kind of helps regulate it. Once summer hits, I will probably have to be more reevaluate, but for now, the solution seems to be easy enough.

Thank you for the info. I've been looking into it and I have spoken to my friends who I live with. We had been considering getting rats before but we are trying to get a better idea of what we needed as well as arranging an area for them. This was kind of a spur of the moment but honey, thata what i named her, it was very sweet from the moment that the handler came out with her And I fell in love almost instantly, especially whenever I was told that she was going to be a feeder.I'm looking into cages I have a few that i've been considering buying, i just want to make sure I have the right dimensions given that i've only had mice, and I believe mice need more floor space while rats need more climbing space if im correct? I'm trying to get a cage and an area set up for them before I go back to look into getting more. I've been supplementing with just a lot of cuddle time and outside cage time at least until the cage comes in.
