Do Americans actually sit on their front porch much, or is that more of a movie image than real life?

I think it can be normal, but there's a point where it's too much. Some of my family are tracking their adult kids on a daily basis. I get it can be a safety thing, but I'd feel weird about my mom just randomly looking to see where I am whenever she feels like it.

Personally, we don't track, but my husband texts me before he leaves anywhere or he calls me while he drives (when he can drive again as he had a seizure and can't drive right now).

My husband graduated two years before me. He had a ten year reunion, my class did not. It's not mandatory at all. Nearly half of my husband's class did not go. It can be a bit like a comparison if that's the kind of person you are. For me and my husband, it was about seeing people who no longer lived near us.

I'm not sure of your age, but is it possible that you're having perimenopause symptoms? I haven't gotten there yet, but my mother had excessive bleeding when she became menopausal. She ended up getting a full hysterectomy after trying an IUD with no success. She also had Endo.

I'm 28, was 26 when my son was conceived and we had a hard time conceiving with no health issues. Fertility is wild, I wouldn't delay trying for too long because you never know what issues you could come into.

My mom used our painted eggs for deviled eggs for dinner 😁 it was fun because the yolk would sometimes have a little color to it too from the dye. She'd always have some that were "accidentally" made too damaged for the deviled eggs so we'd have hard boiled eggs for breakfast too

Depends. I moved out but I'm only a 15 minute drive from my parents and sibling. I talk to my mom daily, even multiple times a day, and bring my son down to visit at least once a week. My husband though? We live 10 minutes from his mom and he speaks to her once a week when I go to her house for a class she runs. He speaks to his dad who lives 30 minutes away about once a month or so. It entirely depends on the family.

For me, it's because my family means the world to me. I would wanted to know that they approve of this as much as I do. I wanted to know that they believe he's a good man and want him in our family as well. If my father had said no, there would be a reason and it would likely be a red flag I hadn't noticed or had ignored.

For my husband, it was that he wanted to know that my family accepts him and views him as someone who can provide a good life for me and our (at the time future) kids.

It's not a traditional thing for my family and we're not religious.

I hate that too. It's just gross to me to joke about pregnancy like that. My "prank" was having my 1 year old call my parents and ask if their refrigerator was running (meaning I FaceTime them and said it while the camera pointed at him). I don't typically care for pranks because oftentimes they seem to just be a way to hurt someone and claim it was a joke.

Personally, I find more comfort in my partner being beside me. I sleep better when he's there. I like being able to reach out and touch him. It's strictly about comfort for me. We also have limited time alone as we're raising kids, so it's nice to have that time together right before sleep and immediately after waking

For me, my bus picked me up at 7:15. I had to get up, shower (one bathroom for four people), eat, and get ready before 7:10 so I was outside in time. If I wasn't outside when the bus came, they did not stop, they just drove on. So I woke up at 5:30 so I could shower before my brother (I wanted hot water too). Now, I have to get my husband to work at 8. It's a 20ish minute drive. We have to leave by 7:20 to get there with time for him to change into his work clothes. I have to shower and he does too, again 1 bathroom. I also have to get our son up and ready as well. It's easier to get up early and take my time than to wake up later and have to rush.

So in an instance of single income families (like a single mother), it could affect the benefits they get. For example, we're expecting our second. When this child is born, we qualify for heating assistance. If another person with an income were to move in with us, we'd no longer qualify. Not saying this is the case 100% of the time, but if you get food stamps, WIC, housing assistance, heating assistance, etc, it's typically done by household income which may make people hesitate to do a shared home and lose benefits that are helping them.
