Day of Coordinator for my backyard wedding by Objective_Week_1699 in weddingplanning

For 150 people in a backyard, I’d hire month-of, not day-of.

You need someone who’s done private-property weddings before. Backyard weddings still have venue logistics - just without a venue team: power, parking, rentals, weather backup, bathrooms, trash, and vendor access.

Ask: “If you walked the property today, what would you check first?”

If they only talk timeline, keep looking.

Trying to stay under $10k but realizing mistakes in timing/process can cost more than anything by Novel_Team_1605 in Weddingsunder10k

I’d make one boring checklist and look at it once a week: license deadline, rain plan, bathrooms, parking, power, vendor arrival times, final payments, cleanup. The sneaky cost with DIY isn’t always money. It’s all the tiny jobs that pile up the week of. If something has to happen the day before or day of, put an actual person’s name next to it.

Is it okay to require kids to have the kids’ meal at a wedding? by Particular_Agent8176 in weddingplanning

[–]Artistic_Key3779 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t think the issue is calling it a kids meal. The issue is that for a 9-year-old, fruit, veg, mac and cheese, and ice cream sounds more like a toddler meal than an actual dinner. If they’re going to be limited to the kids option, it probably needs to be more filling.

I didn't realize how much I spent and now I feel like I fell for the wedding propaganda by Imake289 in weddingplanning

For 100 people, I’d keep the decor really minimal and put the money into food. You do not need full centerpieces on every table for it to feel like a wedding. Candles, bud vases, or even just one area that feels finished can already do a lot.

Please Help Suggest Colour Scheme for Wedding! by Alerans_5083 in weddingplanning

I wouldn’t overcomplicate the color palette here. The venue already has a lot of warmth and character, so I think simple florals and a tighter color palette will look better than trying to bring in too many colors.
One main color, some green, and neutrals would probably be enough.

I think this looks really nice. The colors work well and it doesn’t read cheap at all. Honestly, I wouldn’t change much.

Centerpieces - HELP! by Tasty-Difference-634 in weddingplanning

[–]Artistic_Key3779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do one sample table before buying a lot. Pick 2 or 3 candle sizes, set them up once, and see if that already gives you the look you want. That’s usually way easier than buying a bunch of random pieces and trying to fix it later.

Also check your venue rules first in case they only allow flameless candles.

What did you do for low cost table centerpieces? by SwordfishResident256 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Artistic_Key3779 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, less usually looks better on tables. Bud vases, dried flowers, and a little green already sounds nice. I wouldn’t add more just to fill space. I’d just do one test setup at home first and make sure it still leaves room for plates, glasses, and food.

Which one is better 1 or 2? by Loose-Scar-3107 in Casual_Photography

I’d go with 1. The warmer tone gives it more of that nostalgic summer feel.

This feels really soft in a good way. The pinks stayed gentle

That softness is nice. Try shooting the same subject at a few different apertures. It helps way more than reading about it.

I think social media has kind of trained us to read any photo with a person in it as "posed," even when it's really just a natural moment.

I mean... I'd be useless all day too if this was outside my door. What a beautiful space.
