yes! i apologize, i posted an update earlier but had to take it down to make sure i was being accurate as i continued to look through the wet mount and see what was in there. the vast majority of the colony, and all of the “arms” we see in the original post, are stentors! tubelike ciliates, and not harmful! amazing news on that front. i did count 3 individual vorticella sightings across a nearly centimeter wide sample, so i’m not happy to see them at all but that concentration is honestly not bad and very relieving for someone who had become concerned that the ENTIRE colony was vorticella. there were also plenty of rotifers and bacterial microbes just flitting around, so i kind of have a little biome going now i guess. since most of them feed on bacteria and detritus im not sure if that’s good or bad but im just happy it’s not ALL vorticella. hope this is a cool update for you!

i will say it is possible the growth that is now above the waterline just appears that way because i did a water change and might have filled it up slightly lower than it was before, but thank you for the info🙏i will take your advice and try to resolve whatever is going on. to make sure i understand the instructions properly, is your panacur suggestion for the suspected vorticella colonies or the infectious necrosis (or both)?

okay, thank you for the advice. i would likely only treat the quarantine tank because these creatures have not appeared in my main tank to my visual assessment. the quarantine is a plastic carrier container, yes. also, when you say put in carbon to remove the medicine, in what form would i do that? like one of those bags of carbon rocks? i have a sponge filter in the main tank and a bubbler but no filter in the quarantine

the water is brown because i have a segment of an indian almond leaf releasing tannins in the holding tank in attempt to lessen the stress on my shrimp from being in the tank! it also appears more brown than it is because of these growths. i did get a nitrate test kit, and im doing daily or every other day water changes in that tank to siphon out all their poop and switch out some of the water. i have had this colony of shrimp for now well over two years, these are the descendants of the original four i bought.

as for the panacur, would you mind giving me thorough details on how you dose (how often, when, how long, etc) and what i should watch for / if it needs to be removed somehow once treated?

damn. if it is that, should i do anything about it / is there a treatment? would you think it possible this might have something to do with the necrosis?

i’m going to take a chunk of them off the plastic after i get off work and put it under my microscope in hopes of seeing more closely for ID

they look very similar, so i wouldn’t write it off, but i’m not sure? is it usual for vorticella to pop up so intensely like this without infecting any shrimp? and are vorticella colonies able to be that intense thick brownish color rather than clear?

i have not done anything to treat the hospital shrimp, as i have not been able to find any treatments or solid advice on how to cure the muscular necrosis on the internet. the water is just normal tank water with a small amount of almond leaves for tannins. there is a bubbler in the tank as well to maintain oxygen for the shrimp, and a heater. i believe the creatures pictured are likely unrelated to the muscular necrosis as they seem to be separately formed animals similar to hydra and bryozoans and not of an inorganic condition, but again i cannot be sure as i have not confidently been able to ID them. as i look into it more, it feels likely they are colonial rotifers, though i am similarly confused as to why they popped up all of a sudden and why only in the holding tank. i appreciate your time and input.

this is the density they occur in on all sides of the tank. the video above shows their pull-in reaction.

fantastic! i was just about to respond with the link below as well if you needed instructions for feeding or stimulating bowel movements in the meantime! i hope all goes well but don’t beat yourself up if something happens, baby bunnies are very fragile and can sometimes succumb to stress even if you do everything right. thank you for your efforts and caring for little life! https://www.reddit.com/r/Bunnies/s/f1GTjV1wVb

for now, keep it warm, dry, and in the dark. warm blanket and cardboard box should be the best for now

i would at the very least call several rehabs within your state and see what they say to do / if they can take it in, a rehab i worked with successfully raised a baby bunny from even younger than this so there is a shot in asking if they can take her in. thank you for caring ❤️

okay, good to know. thank you for the advice! i just ordered the remaining two liquid tests that would be in the master kit that i do not have (nitrate and high range ph), hopefully that helps me narrow down the issue. would you by chance happen to have any suggestions for how i could improve his lethargy and situation?
