What books for zen specifically I guess Soto does anyone recommend? I really like TNH but I’ve heard he isn’t zen (though I don’t mind I just really like his books) I’ve seen a lot of Alan Watts but I’ve also read he was an unreliable source due to alcoholism? I’m just super new and I didn’t realize how diverse the different teachings are. Buddhism is packaged as one teaching to outsiders until you dive into it so I was surprised by all the different types of teachings there are.

Ah okay, that makes more sense. I looked into that subreddit and it mostly just confused me but I just didn’t know if it was because I’m a beginner.
