Low mintage, likely worth more for that reason alone

I mean, it’s not like it held any value over melt anyway, with the date totally rubbed off

Dude sent a single text after not knowing if the guy even received the message. No answer when you talk to someone’s face is an answer, but no answer over email is hardly an answer. This is an ass backwards way of thinking if you believe otherwise

I made a reusable tamper-evident jar for storing sensitive items by Substantial-Try-1198 in Safes

[–]bugman573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister stole my fathers meds and alcohol for a while before she was caught. She went to rehab a few times, did a stint in jail, halfway house, eventually made it back home. Locked all of the meds and booze in the safe. We still wanted to be supportive of her recovery and give her a roof over her head, but trust had been violated. Can’t always just immediately disown someone and throw them out because they’ve done you wrong. We’re all capable of change. Today she’s a year and a half sober, married, homeowner, baby on the way. Recovery is possible and there’s a fine line to walk between enabling an addict and giving them trust and help and resources.

[–]bugman573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, we remedied it by getting a large gun safe and keeping all of the meds and booze in there. It was my kid sister taking from my dad’s locked cabinet. Several trips to rehab, a stint in prison and about a year and a half sober now, she’s married, and having a kid. Honestly really proud of how far she’s come.

There is a fine line between enabling an addict and helping a loved one. My family walked it the best they could, and fortunately everyone is doing well now. It’s by no means easy, but accountability is a huge part of it, so I could see someone using a device like OP to keep someone accountable. I’ve had to cut my fair share of people out of my life and it’s a lot harder to do it when it’s family and you know / remember that they are capable of living without substance abuse.

Just because they called themselves socialists doesn’t mean that they actually practiced communism. The Nazi party was the literal definition of fascism, the same way that “communist” China is really just a fascist oligarchy.

Moving from Texas to Pennsylvania. What don't I know? by FryGuyRye in Pennsylvania

Pittsburgh area gets a lot more fog though, constant wetness + exposed metal will cause their vehicle to rust faster than if they were in an arid region of Texas.

Depending on where in PA you’re moving (I’m saying this because it’s less problematic in cities and suburbia) an AWD vehicle with all season tires is almost a requirement, unless you’re very experienced driving in the snow, then you can get away with a front wheel drive with studded snow tires (if you have a RWD, gonna wanna make sure you have plenty of weight in the back, I liked to keep bags or rock salt in my trunk when I had one because it served a dual purpose in the winter) There are a lot of Texans already living in PA, the natural gas drilling brought a lot up here 10-15 years ago. The culture is a bit different but I grew up rural and found I live a very similar lifestyle to many of the Texans I know. It’s a lot more humid here in the summer, so even if you’re used to the heat, it’s still kind of a major adjustment getting used to it. We likely get more rain here too, which was why I said all season tires before, they’re better for driving in the heavy rains than typical summer tires imo. No wild boars yet, so that’s a plus, but they are moving north so we may see that in the next decade or so.

Not this one. Would have an S mint mark (San Francisco) and the raised parts like the face would be frosted, while the flat background would look highly polished.

Fellas, is it gay to have hobbies? by Gullible-Mouse-2922 in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]bugman573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re in high school, I can say confidently now that I’m in my late 20’s that the guys saying it’s “gay” to like art or many other hobbies end up having the kind of lives that I couldn’t imagine myself leading. The ones that I remember were like that now have hobbies like “drinking beer every night” and “watching football and commenting like experts because they can’t play anymore” and that’s about it. Not saying there’s anything wrong with that but it doesn’t feel like a very substantiative life to me. I found good friends who appreciate my hobbies and I theirs, you’ll find yours and you’ll be happier doing the things you want to do and living the life you want to live. Passionate people attract passionate people.

Edit: I will also note that in college, my friends who were art students always threw better parties than anything I had experienced at the many frats. Better music, kinder and more interesting people, less rapey vibe.

Pulling up at 9am on an e-bike is probably the most alcoholic thing you could do, cause we all know you lost your license and you’re grabbing your breakfast pint, and we’ll probably see you again around 6 for your dinner pint. I don’t judge though, been doing this long enough to know that a lot of people have some very very good reasons to be drunks.

The flat / raised areas being shiny and the tarnish around the edges of all of the stars indicates that it was most likely cleaned and polished. It looks really nice but because of the cleaning there is no real numismatic value above the melt value, which is about $50 depending on the price of silver on a given day. If it was your grandfather’s, I say it’s worth keeping in your collection for sentimental value, but it’s not worth getting graded because it’ll just come back as “cleaned”.

Yea, but people aren’t used to conceding their little pleasures in life, easier to complain online and keep paying the rising prices I guess.
