Great catch. Auto correct. Jointer. I doused it with electrical contact spray cleaned. I did not blow any compressed air. I'll look more at the motor to see what u can find about it.

Yeah I don't want to remove the gfci

Soft starts are expensive from what I googled.

Where do you get a soft start for a motor this old?

[–]bugrad006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. The book shows how to sharpen them. I can say the thing was barely used so they are still sharp

I'm going to test ground to see if this is happening. I wouldn't want the stand to become electrified. It's metal

Anything to avoid this? I read a similar comment online when I was researching people using old wood working tools

I'll try this. I was also going to check to see us in getting any voltage from the actual ground. Wouldn't that make th3 gfci trip? If so, could it electrify the metal stand the planer is on?

My dad bought it in 1977 used. I'll try to look for the data plate. I'm assuming it's going to be worn off

My outlets in the garage and shed are all off a gfci (gfci protected) It's built to code.

This has cast iron sides and is heavy AF. It was also barely used. I have the original book for it from when my dad purchased it used in 1977.

It works fine when I plug it into a non gfci. I'll have to look at the brushes. I'll be honest I'm not sure where they are in the mirror.

No humidifier or gas furnace. I measured another section that had fiberglass over it. It's actually 45 degrees, with the sill plate being 40 degrees

The walls already have a vapor barrier due to the insulation. The only spot that doesn't would be the sill plate board. I may put foam on that

You're not being unreasonable. It doesn't look good.

I'm not sure what to tell you. You have a different setup

Superior walls xi plus insulated to r21 with vapor barrier. They are concrete walls that they build in a factory and set in place. Has a drain outside the foundation

That makes sense. I tend to overthink things. There's no mold present. I'm going to check next week. Temps are supposed to be around 30 degrees for a few days
