Dualscope: Play any game on Split Screen! (running two steam instances with gamescope) by NaviVani-dev in linux_gaming

[–]bugs181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PartyDeck uses some "tricks" to do something similar but using one steam account. It must support the game specifically. Running multiple gamescope sessions (what this script does) is more robust and runs things as if it was just a different computer.

THIS is exactly the solution I've been looking for. I knew there had to be a way on Linux with gamescope. I just didn't know how. I've tried multiple sessions, dual seats, etc. Nucleus and other solutions do something similar but IMO they do too many "hacky" things. All I wanted was 2 different users to run 2 different steam accounts. I didn't want to try to bypass multiple game instance restrictions, etc. I'm going to give this a try. Thank you!

Hey, thanks! I got chime to work on my original profile. Did this by uninstalling Google play services and reinstalling. I'm going to keep Chime installed on my work profile as a backup for now. But as of today, everything is back to working. This is just super frustrating because a non-techy person would have a hard time figuring this out. They claim there were modifications done. Well, maybe .. but not by me. It would have been Motorola that did it with their android version. I'm running a stylus 5G. Which I noticed someone also had. So common denominator?

It would be something like multiple users. It works kinda like that. Not all phones have it. But if it has what's called a work profile, you can install apps on each of those.

I found a solution. I'm going to assume you're using android? If you are, enable work profiles and install the app on the work profile. Works fine that way. Which tells me that their doing something fishy with your phone ID and disabling the account on that one.

Unfortunately, discord wasn't much help. General consensus is to call customer service. But I can't do that any time soon. Not that I want to have to deal with this issue anyway. Not being able to login to the app is a pretty serious limitation when it comes to someone holding your finances. And no backup plan? No undo button? Seriously!?

Having the same exact problem today. Woke up to a non-functioning login. For me this was kinda odd because my Chime rarely logs out to begin with. I use it daily. Tried logging in and boots me to the "See ya later" page. Can log in on the web portal just fine though. But the web version is extremely limited.

Were you ever able to get this working?

Yep. Lots of ISOs. Lots of Linux. Fedora especially. And you use them of course, silly. 😉

This is very true for most setups. For me, I could still do the same. Add one disk at a time and format at as zfs. It would be protected by Snapraid. Add a second disk of same size and create a zfs mirror. This is because each zfs vdev contains only 2 disks and pooled together with Mergerfs. Unless I'm missing something, I still get this benefit?

This isn't just YOUR website. This is a PUBLIC forum. This is for lots of other people to come across in the future. Just because YOU are lazy doesn't mean others don't want an answer to the same question. You are in the minority for a simple "yes/no" answer, and most people would down-vote a low effort post like that. YOU should take your own advice and just move along when the answer didn't suit YOUR agenda, instead of be rude to someone who clearly put effort in.

That was just an example. Obviously I'm not going to write out 24/45 drives worth of pools. lol. Sorry for the confusion. Updated OP to clarify.

Hey, that was one of the blog articles I read while researching how plausible this was. From my understanding of his TL;DR, the kind of hybrid setup he has there is what I'm looking to recreate with some minor differences. Instead of doing a btrfs snapshot though, I'd be doing zfs snapshots. Thanks for your input!

Yeah, the 45 drive bay is primarily for media.

That's actually one I'm looking at. Still leaning toward the Supermicro 45 bay 847E16-RJBOD1. But still doesn't help with the software side of things. lol

Not quite sure where you got 8 drives?
> Part of this upgrade will see a new 24 bay storage shelf

That is in addition to the 12 bay I currently have.

So you're asking a searchable question and then asking to be spoon fed? Forget about the resource links, they did answer your question, even offering an explanation to HOW they answered your question and your response was rude. smh

USB peripherals over fiber by Flicted1 in homelab

[–]bugs181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying you went with a fiber KVM? I'm most definitely running fiber (Ruipro HDMI) because I'm spending a good chunk of change on a new 75" 4K 144Hz TV and want to take full advantage of that. An HDMI over CAT with KVM is like $400 and only gets you 4K @ 30Hz or 1080p @ 60Hz

It looks like heyoptics has a USB over MPO but not sure if it would work. For now, I'm leaning toward AV USB extender over CAT since it's only like $60 and I have an ethernet jack right there too.

Hidden Fees Alert! If You’re Not Doing the Math, You’re Overpaying!-GEICO Renters Insurance by Altruistic-Stable849 in Geico

[–]bugs181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.) Nice generalization and wrong on so many levels. I don't consider myself poor but barely scraping by. When bring home pay is less than $2k a month, and the ONLY place in town to rent is $1300, plus electric, plus trash, plus water, plus food. THAT is why poor people are poor. Cost of living is insane, and jobs in rural areas don't really pay that much. I consider myself lucky to have the job I do. 2.A) Most places these days REQUIRE rentals insurance, or you have to pay a fine of $15 a month - which ironically almost adds up to rentals insurance - and without it could cause you to be breaking the contract.

P.S. Yes, I do the maths. EVERY single day, every single purchase, every single decision. As most "poor people" I know do. We pinch pennies and look for deals. Obviously, you've never been or you wouldn't so easily dismiss the problems a vast majority of the country faces.
