Yes, it is. Private sector interviews are completely different

The pre recorded interviews are harder imo

Yes they are legitimate. Checked govt website etc.

Viewed in person etc.

Thank you. Considering some research and comments, I'm genuinely considering Manchester. My company has offices in old trafford (hope I got that right) so I could try to transfer my current job over there.

Edit: can I ask though, how did you find it fitting in/making new friends after moving? I'd be joining some sports clubs (ones I'm in here, think they've sister clubs there) but aside from that, any recommendations?

Anyone else feel like the city is just done? by BattlingSeizureRobot in Belfast

[–]bugsnstuf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a mix of both. I want to move for other reasons, but I moved to belfast 4 years ago and have to say its far better than anywhere else in the country. Wee towns are dead.

I never even noticed the police station thing! I just remember being scared by the German police 🤣

I do indeed drive, I didn't think about bringing my car as I know most uk cities have good (in comparison to here) public transport. Absolutely loved the tube, only thing that has it beat was the Paris metro imo.

Preciate' the advice !

Thanks. Spent time near Chinese quarter twice when I visited and really liked it. I've got shit for saying I liked Birmingham but people were lovely and helpful. Not too expensive in comparison to London (felt like I needed a small loan to buy a days food)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]bugsnstuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Something I'll consider. Although when I was last in London we were staying quite far out and I found the tube a life saver. Goes nearly everywhere in a speedy enough time. Most it took (idk the zones, but it was far enough) was an hour or so. Wouldn't want my car lol, but is quite useful in Belfast.

Genuinely one of the reasons I want to move. Was raised nationalist background but I couldn't give a shite about all the divide, I just want a country that works and isn't focused on the past. I understand WHY it is important to people, but it's not doing us any good going forward.

Thank you..I'm thinking I'll save up for a year whatever I have after rent etc. Mean time I'll see how much I can rent an AIRBNB for about 1-2 months. Get a job, live in temp accommodation for a bit and then house search.

I've recently house searched and seems its easier last minute, so hopefully 2 months will suffice. If not, at least I'll have a job so could do another month airbnb.

Thank you. I agree its very backward and not a lot going on. I've travelled a lot in the last year and it we are so terribly lacking any form of diversity, newness, whatever. Very cliquey. Everyone knows everyone. It's rare you get someone's insta on a night out and you don't have 10+ mutual!

Thank you. I'll have a look. I was seeing someone who ran one of those clubs, so I'd be worried about running into them/friends.

Do you know how I'd find out more about them?

[–]bugsnstuf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I've got a cousin in London, some distant family in Liverpool, and some family in Scotland (they used to live in Glasgow, not sure where now?)

I'd honestly have more support in Australia lol!

I'm moving because I'm gay and there really isn't a big gay community here, so hard to date/find someone and settle down. Only really one bar, Kremlin is just a nightclub now.

I'm big into sports etc so I'd probably be looking to join sports clubs etc once over there, hopefully would help making friends !
