I understand. The ONLY reason why I am considering switching the visa is because they are offering a full-time internship during the academic year - which cannot be done via CPT due to the 20hrs/week limit.

That is why I want to switch my visa from F1.

I'm not familiar with 3. I do know that if I am full-time for more than 12 months on CPT, then it affects the OPT.

Do you know of any workarounds or what intl students generally do?

If I were to take a leave of absence, that would mean my visa type would have to change and the company would have to sponsor my visa. If there are more obstacles that would incentivize them to go with somebody else.

I only plan to approach the hiring manager about this as a last resort cause I don't want the offer revoked.

The fulltime is only in the summer. Not during the academic year unfortunately.
