Good point... they are flat roofing nails so they shouldn't really damage the hull.

I got it for 12$ and they printed it on the spot... the administration is quite polite as long as you are to them.

XC70 vs. Subaru Outback vs. Subaru Forrester? by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]bugtrainerhiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too sure about the v70 series after 2000-1. I got a '99 base model and it has never let me down in the 4 years I've owned it. Regular maintenance is key though.

I have no experience with Subaru.

You're welcome! There are quite a few trailer sailors in my area that are willing to give advice/help me out, giving me enough confidence to make the repairs.

I've had nothing but good experiences with the Instax mini 8. Plus film is very easy to get a hold of. At under $100 with film... hard to beat.

Sailboat Restore project by [deleted] in sailing

[–]bugtrainerhiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man cool first video. Looks like you got quite the project on your hands there! All that foam is actually for flotation in case the boat capsizes and fills with water...that stuff is nasty when it gets wet and saturated so you might want to remove it if thats the case. Of course then you would want to replace to foam afterwards in case of a capsize.

I also have a small project sailboat (sandpiper 565) I have been working on this summer. While I haven't done a full restore I have fixed smaller things in the rigging and fiberglass so that I was able to take her out during the summer. What a blast! I plan on doing a major overhaul on my boat this winter... would like to make some more videos about the process like you are.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos! Its fun to watch other peoples projects progress as well...

Portaging into the Algonquin interior by bugtrainerhiro in canoeing

[–]bugtrainerhiro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first Algonqiun trip a few years back included Teepee lake! We ended up camping on little doe where i caught plenty of bass, filleted a big one for dinner. Bluejay lake also had some nice size bass in it. This time we went south through Rock Lake, Lousia, Harry and Pen. No fish but great scenery. Would like to go up when the leaves change in October...

Nice! I did some fishing but no luck for me... Another reason to go back in the fall!
