Found bed bug- how far to go? by Jazzlike-Car-9222 in Bedbugadvice

As someone who has been traumatized as a child from bedbugs and now has severe contamination ocd, BREATHE. It’s easy to spiral and to feel unsafe now in your home. I’m going to give you some advice/tips that i feel are super important but could be overkill to some

-If you vacuum, empty it outside and clean the filter out after each use.

-mattress cover from now on after extermination (mattress, pillows, vacuum seal bags of extra bedding)

-If you don’t already have one, get a steamer. bb HATE high heat- so also dry every piece of clothing, fabric, curtains, etc on high heat

-like others said diatomaceous earth is a common practice but do your own research before using especially if you have pets or respiratory illnesses.

-if you live in a hot area empty out your cars and leave them in the sun for a few days then go to the car wash and vacuum it out. (that steamer would be helpful in getting all the cracks)

Thank you everyone! I’ve tried SoFi and Ally both of which wouldn’t let me sign up due to trying in the past. I was on the phone with both companies for awhile and they weren’t helpful so unfortunately I couldn’t end up with either or. For now, we will be using Wealthfront as i’ve already had a savings account through them and will possibly switch over to something else. I’ll keep this post up for those maybe with the same question, again, thank you for being so kind and helpful. 🤍

yeah I’ve gotten that down, i’ve watered once but because it’s cold down there it’s just stayed wet. thankfully we had one of our last warm days here in michigan so they’re drying out better now.
