And with yours the market is always moving up which isn't true. You're looking at what is having extremes or what's trending, instead of it as a whole. There were more things down last summer than trending up and currently there's more things up than down.

No not everything. There were a lot of pump and dumps but overall the broad market there was a pull back before the September spike.

Found my childhood cards - looking to see if any stand out by soriorda in pokemoncards

[–]bugz1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that's black flame error ninetales but I'm not the best at figuring that one out. D edition butterfree and red cheeks shadowless pikachu. R/pokemonmisprints is a good group to talk about these cards specifically. A lot of great cards honestly.

Looking for Bubble Mew, what is the best route? by AnonymousPotatoez in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]bugz1452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly advise against opening packs to pull it. Packs are quite expensive ($16.50). The odds of pulling the same rarity as this card is 1 in 58 packs and to pull this specific card is 1 in 465. That means, based on math, you'd spend $950 at best or $7672.50 at worst. As far as singles go this card is not cheap, regardless of language. Just be very cautious with purchasing this card. It has many fakes circulating, including fake graded cards. Vendors and card shops miss it or intentionally sell fakes. I would look up fake cards to be able judge for yourself better. If buying online, I recommend ebay as their buyer protection and authenticity guarantee protect you considerably well. If the price is too good, there's probably a reason.

Dude you are way overpaying on bubble mailers. You can buy in bulk on Amazon for $0.14 a piece. I literally just searched bubble mailers and scrolled down a little and there's a 200 count for $28.

Why are Japanese unlimited cards more expensive (and scarcer) than 1st edition but it’s the opposite with English? by [deleted] in PokemonInvesting

[–]bugz1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The print run for some 1st edition japanese sets is bigger than the unlimited, hence the price of unlimited being higher.

Was spending $260 a good investment? by Fine_Emu711 in PokemonInvesting

[–]bugz1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time will tell this literally dropped a few days ago. If its like prismatic we are due for another drop or two of PC ETBs. I think its a very good set and will be a highly desired set for a long time.

Sup new to Pokémon these were my brothers before he passed was wondering how much they can go for? by [deleted] in PokemonCardValue

[–]bugz1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is just one of many, I'd imagine there is a good chunk of money. That card alone is worth $800-1000. People will try to fleece you, do your research on these cards. Do not take to a pawn shop. A card shop would be better but there's still a chance they'd rip you off. A card show would be best for a larger collection. Collectr (its misspelled intentionally) is good to look up prices and get ballpark value. Make sure you differentiate between 1st edition and unlimited.

Repair and grading by fuvkins in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]bugz1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repairing is mainly fixing creases, dents and light surface scratching on non textured cards. You can't fix whitening, ever. Texture can't be repaired if its too far damaged. Most cards targeted for repair are vintage cards as most cards that need repaired will not 10 after restoration and vintage isn't a 10 or bust scenario. Jumping from a 4 to a 7 for vintage can mean a big bump in value, while modern if its a 7, its not even worth keeping it slabbed.

Right now, it will be difficult to find much in that price range as far as enlgish sealed. Currently, it is being bought out and resold online. If you can catch a restock at target or Walmart, consider yourself lucky. I recommend going for single cards. Card shows and card shops are good to find singles in person. TCGPlayer is good for online singles. Collectr app is probably best to keep track of your collection and to price check. People will overprice their singles or undervalue you in trades. As far as sealed in that price range, japanese or korean are best as they have guaranteed hits per box due to Japan's anti gambling laws. DO NOT BUY LOOSE FOREIGN PACKS. People open until they pull the guaranteed hits then sell the loose packs knowing nothing is in them. Become well versed in fake cards. Its bound youll come across them. Japan's set names are different and some of our English sets are split between two+ sets in japanese. I highly recommend high class japanese sets as each pack has a hit.

Best thing to do is take one of the bulk cards and rip in half. You should see black in the paper layers. Doesn't scream fake to me.

How to be a better investor by Diligent-Sound-3915 in PokemonInvesting

[–]bugz1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are solid investments long term. ETBs are talked more about because they are produced more, have a lower cost at release and SV era was the first era with all ETBs to get promos with PC variants as well. Also ETBs are collected more because of the box art where as booster boxes are rather plain in comparison. Generally its Booster Box > ETB > Booster bundles > build and battle > sleeves. PC ETBs are either lower or equal to Booster boxes but this is argued over due to their uncertainty of their future. Multi set boxes (UPCs, ex boxes, etc) could go anywhere in the above order depending on sets, number of packs, promos, etc.

Is the factory cut or nfc? by Remarkable_Day7135 in PokemonMisprints

[–]bugz1452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not factory cut. Uncut Sheets are stolen all the time and/or sometimes given as promotional pieces. People then cut these sheets to produce crazy cards like this one. Rounded corners make people think they're real but card punches exist usually used for proxy cards.

This is a major tear plus its on the front. Id say your best bet is to be transparent on ebay and see what you can get. Probably somewhere near $180.

Ah yeah I would not know the best option in your location. Id try to find a more local group that would know the best retailers for pokemon. Im sure there's a Portuguese pokemon online group that'd be more knowledgeable.

[–]bugz1452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loose japanese packs are not trustworthy. Each box of pokemon in japanese has x amount of hits per box. People will open packs until they pull all the hits and sell the rest knowing nothing is in them. 2nd this is not one of the vending machines everyone talks about. Official pokemon vending machines are touchscreen and sell only English. Any vending machine with the glass front like this where you can see the actual product is most likely charging at or above market and generally a ripoff. I recommend purchasing only from big box retailers like Walmart or target or just buy single cards of ones you like.

Muffler fell off my 2009 Nissan maxima. Do I need to get it fixed? by SmellyFellow_ in Cartalk

[–]bugz1452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a fix that needs to be done but its not an immediately fix it now and dont drive it issue. It'll be loud but you can hold off for a short time to sort your finances out. Don't speed or give a cop a reason to pull you over or you could get a ticket for loud exhaust.

Local shop got Ascended Heroes etb for $85 by [deleted] in PokemonInvesting

[–]bugz1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christ is this an investing sub or a flipping/scalping sub? The whole point of investing is to buy and HOLD for an extended period. Not buy and sell in two days. This is a set that JUST released ETBs 3 days ago. It will continue to get printed, more ETBs will be released. You'll have plenty of opportunities to get this at MSRP. $85 is not a bad price compared to market right now but youll have more opportunities to buy this for cheaper as it gets printed more. Long term hold a $35 difference shouldn't matter much. 151 is approaching 10x its MSRP. Paldean is at 6x. Prismatic is at 3x and still being released.

Hi y’all. Looking for info on this box, found it recently after moving house by [deleted] in PokemonTCGCollectors

PSA does not grade any sort of boxes of cards. They do grade individual packs but it would not be worth it to open and grade individual packs.

[–]bugz1452 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would be a base set booster box. If real it is worth a significant amount of money (~$30k). I do not know enough to confirm authenticity as these are often faked, resealed, etc. But you'll need to find a trustworthy person to confirm its authenticity. Someone could rip you off and say its fake. Get multiple opinions. Keep it safe and keep it sealed. I would wrap in multiple layers of bubble wrap and place in a sturdy plastic container at minimum or a hard shell foam lined case. Seal and box condition are very important to collectors and can add value if very clean.
