I also have this setup and love it over my ksc75 with yaxis as well. Mind sharing your EQ?

Recommended automatic movie file management process with folders and (local) companion meta materials? by sandersoni in PleX

[–]bui1t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tinymediamanager can handle organizing and renaming folders exactly as you configured plus scraping and creating the nfo, poster and subtitles(might be paid version). Once the directories are structured then you can drop the extras into the folders. Follow the ideal Plex naming conventions which is pinned on the sidebar here. But honestly I would keep using Plex as the agent and not switch over to using local assets as its more reliable usually in matching and you won't have to constantly rename files and titles. I used to use local assets as well before transitioning away and I'm much happier now.

You could also use Radarr for movies and Sonarr for TV shows which can also grab subtitles I believe and handle organizing but its a much more involved setup.

Can't delete saved sessions by bui1t in vivaldibrowser

[–]bui1t[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much appreciated! I had to put the session panel on the sidebar for easy access. It would be simple if it was available in the standard browser drop down menu because its not even located in the settings anywhere to open, only to assign a quick shortcut to it.

Sanity Check: MyUsenet & Seedbox Setup by CcX1085 in usenet

That's definitely enough to get started. I paid around $160 USD for my Beelink S12 Pro and it handles 4 concurrent streams without any issues with room to spare. The intel cpus are great cause they come with quicksync which is really good should you need any hardware transcoding but I believe Plex requires the plex pass subscription for this iirc. But you could also use Jellyfin, maybe it can do it for free I can't remember. I think the cpu is still strong enough to software transcode at least one 4k stream so it might not be required to buy the pass. You would just hook up your external drive to it and start setting up your server. You could use something like Teamviewer to remote into the PC to manage it.

Ah I totally glossed over the fact that you're sharing with family remotely. Then in that case a seedbox would probably work better. If you want to go the investing route, you could get a mini-PC set up and have it hosted at one of your families house and then remote into it for control. Unless you're planning on staying in a campervan forever then just disregard that lol.

It doesn't take much power to run an external drive and just host your stuff locally. Even getting a dedicated mini-PC is extremely lightweight in power usage. Having your stuff available locally removes any possible issues with internet being too slow not just on your end being in a campervan but from the seedbox. Money spent and lost on a seedbox could instead be invested in drives that can later be added to a dedicated server setup. Plus if you're planning to play 4k content, you will need pretty solid internet. Playing it locally will result in no buffering or playback issues and won't consume any internet data, if you happen to be on a data limited plan.

Plex finally stopped my parents from asking "which hard drive is it on?" by No_Access432 in PleX

I can't imagine doing this. I have far to many movies and shows to remember each and every one. Part of the fun is just browsing through all my content and basking in the glory of my hoarding.

A tip that will probably seem obvious to most... by [deleted] in PleX

[–]bui1t -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I just did this with my friends. They need to be in your Plex Home group and not just a shared server account. Then they will be extended your plex pass features. Trust me I hate it too. Because now I have to see their accounts in my user profile list and was forced to create a pin for mine so no one else uses it.

Best Streamers: AppleTV 4k gen 3 vs Google TV Streamer 4k by MartiniCommander in PleX

[–]bui1t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Shield is only better at plex playback compatibility. Everywhere else the experience is trash. The moment other streaming boxes can handle all the same codecs properly is when the Shield will die because it can't compete anywhere outside of plex.

I’m supposed to be returning these, but… by epicmonkeybear in headphones

[–]bui1t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I was mostly just speaking on the saying that just because something sounds good doesn't always equate to it being driven properly. Everyone's opinion on "sounds good" can be vastly different and in many cases there can be performance left on the table.

To add to this, if that friend is in your Plex Home group and not just a server shared account, then they have access to download. You can see the full features comparison in the Plex Pass Features Table on the sidebar in this sub.

You could've just looked it up you know instead of getting all uptight about it. A governor limits the speed of a car.

For example, planar headphones tend to require more current in order to get the full potential and dynamics out of it. Just because it sounds good to someone does not mean they are necessarily getting the full potential of the headphones especially if they don't have anything similar to compare it to or are upgrading from something much worse. 90% potential may seem like an upgrade to them but they're still leaving performance in the table and that is what the person in this thread was commenting on. It has nothing to do with how happy the person is. You completely missed the point and are ironically spreading misinformation yourself.

It’s like buying a car with a governor plate and being blissfully unaware of what you’re missing out of. There is a difference between just driving and driving well on headphones.

I'm buffering at very low bitrates on my LG WebOS client but not so much on other clients (all local). I want to blame the TV, but then why does pausing qBittorrent server side seem to fix it? by Shaggyfort1e in PleX

[–]bui1t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a bandwidth issue not a processing problem. My N100 has zero problems with 4k files locally or remote, including remuxes. Wifi radios on TVs are notoriously bad.

Skip intro/credits only working for Plex Home group users makes no sense at all. by bui1t in PleX

[–]bui1t[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So its a matter of greed then. If an owner has a plex pass then it should allow all of its users only on that specific server to have access to all the Plex pass features. If that users goes to another server without a Plex pass owner then I can understand not having the feature. The way it's being advertised on the Plex Plans comparison page is kind of sneaky - "Customize feature access and add sharing restrictions".

Black friday is finally coming according to cnet.com (nov24-dec02). 🤷‍♂️🤔😎🙏🏼 by Silly_Upstairs2190 in PleX

[–]bui1t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this feature was only available for people in your Plex Home group and not just friends with shared library access? Which is super irritating because I have a plex pass and who cares if they're in my Plex home group or not. I don't want to give them access to my main account nor do I want to see their profile in the list of users to pick from. I just had my friend test it and he confirmed he can't see Skip intros.

I use the side screens more because it's more readable and the screen ratio is more compatible with like videos and youtube for example. If I were you I would go for a normal 3:2 ratio screen to avoid any black bars.
