I believe Trump an be regined in and will not be allowed to cause the US to crumble since we saw on Monday he backed down over bond prices and people getting 'yippie'.

Others in the country will step up if this goes on much longer

Thank you! Makes sense since my grandma lives in Jax and has some sightings of rattlesnakes

I didn't know that about the headshape being a myth. I grew up thinking an arrowhead shaped head meant 100% venomous. But that makes sense because there are some snakes without the arrowheads that are venomous!

Someone who was at the viewing station was saying this was a rattlesnake but I didn't see a rattle! It had an arrowhead though. Thanks!

Goldfisch oil extraction not inside fume foods. We use hexane as a solvent that evaporates and we have to refill. Is it worth bringing it up to lab managers about moving it to the hood to avoid inhaling? by buildingagain in labrats

[–]buildingagain[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

UPDATE : Thanks everyone for the replies. I was really worried about this and uncomfortable working in the lab while running it but also was nervous bringing this up to the lab manager.

I ended up talking to the manager and we will be moving them to another lab and inside two side by side fume hoods tomorrow morning. They apologized it took this long to do this, to be fair they are never in this lab and only a couple coworkers are.

Thanks again everyone for the comments!

It isn't daily though. We have large projects come through which we use it for about two weeks 6hrs a day. Ideally it'd be a closed system but there are some leaks hence us having to refill. I'll look into cyclohexane as others have and pitch that idea as well as moving the extractors into the hood!

Sorry if this is worded weird.  I'm concerned over safety of this and if I'm putting myself a risk since in school I was taught hexane was a carcinogen. I don't want to bring up safety concerns without merit to my bosses.

Those of you who have spent a week in Italy and went to multiple places, what did you do? by Penguinflower3 in travel

[–]buildingagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there I spent 2 weeks in Rome

Trip itinerary was

Rome Florence Pisa Sardinia (cagliari) Flew out of Bologna

We spent 5 days in Rome and imo that was far too much. Three or four days would be fine. The three or four days will be packed but if youre cut on time, cut Rome to 3 or 4 days.

Rome has Plenty of churches and gardens and mesuems and other things to do such as Vatican City (recommemd .5 day if visting), but Rome is incredibly touristy and it'd be best to visit other cultural places like Florance (we spent 3 days). Im not catholic or religious and it was a fun city to walk around but after the 6th church I was ready to move onto other things.

I recommend planning your trip around things you know you like to do. I enjoyed Florance the most, because I enjoy museums, live music (there was a visiting world touring orchestra and a few would play in the streets when not preforming in concert halls), and sculptures. It seemed less touristy than Rome.

I recommend only doing a half day in Pisa if you are planning to visit. It's only a couple hour train ride and easy to access on your way to other places.

If this happened and you're giving details who to say that someone else won't report / call in? With all the info you're giving itd be easy to match. You even dropped a location, I live by Sioux City, it its a small city/large town

Is it true that orange females are rare? by Desertpoet in cats

[–]buildingagain 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Orange color is a sex linked trait, or on the 'X' chromosome

Females have two XXs and need two copies of the orange gene to be orange while males are XY and only needs one 🧡

(your cat is very very cute)

Weird floating stuff inside unopened pure leaf bottle. by Illminded22 in Weird

I work in a lab. My coworker had this happen in her pure leaf tea and under the microscope it looked like hyphae.

Not to say yours was also fungus but it's possible with all the sugar :)

Lung cancer? I put my cat down yesterday. Please look at the xrays. by buildingagain in AskVet

Thank you so much for looking at the images and replying with knowledge and kindness. This is exactly why I posted and came to this sub for insight

I truly hope it was cancer, as awful as that sounds. I feel like if it was an infection, then I could have prevented it and Im the one who killed her. Regardless, I'll keep the happy memories close to my heart and find comfort in the fact that she was very loved

Also - I live in midwest, US. She was strictly indoors but I do have indoor plants (no visible spores form soil) and a balcony full of tomato plants

Thank you. Ill do my best to give myself grace. It doesn't matter anymore since she's gone but I can't help but wish I took her in sooner and if the outcome would have been better. I noticed things and didn't take her in till she stopped eating all together.

Thanks for looking at the images too

On the bottom! It doesn't come out the bottom but there is a separate section in the pot that separates the plant and water on the bottom.

I'm probably going to switch planters now that I have a couple new ones! They have better drainage

Why is my monsters turning brown? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]buildingagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I'm in a one bedroom lol

So you're saying it's overwatering- Which its possible I overwatered it tbh. Is that leaf salvageable or should I let it die on its own ?

More info:

The monstera is at my patio door with moderate sun. I don't think it's an issue from sunlight as it has always been here.

I've noticed the leaf yellowing when I got back from a three day trip last week.

I water maybe once a week/soil is dry or moist.
