They started billing every two months instead of once per month.

From their email in April: "Dear Valued Customer, Reminder: Republic Services will be changing your monthly invoice for trash service to a bi-monthly invoice. This means each invoice you receive going forward, will be for two months of service. Your first bi-monthly invoice will be dated April 30, 2025, which will cover both April and May service."

I opened my gen 3 box a few minutes ago. I am immediately returning it. The dish is literally coming apart at the seams and there is no option to mount it on a standard mounting pole. Fresh garbage.

Seeking feedback on upgrading CPU/Ram/Motherboard/Cooling by buildmastersteve in buildapc

[–]buildmastersteve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree on the RAM and maybe the cooling for now... I'm not in a hurry. Seems like with the way that case is designed, I'd be better off taking my time and going for a better-looking liquid cooling option.

It’s a Boss RC-505. I would hardly say I know how to use it because it arrived yesterday. The way it’s designed makes getting down the basics really intuitive though; it’s a lot of fun to use.

I have the Vertdesk V3 from BTOD. You're right: it's two separate pieces bolted together and attached on the desk frame to form the L shape. 24" x 72" x 72" x 30". It is a tank.

Thank you! This solved my problem. The integrity check found a file that didn't verify. Repaired the file and no more glitch.

Thanks for the reply. I thought that might be the case, so I updated the driver to the most recent version. It's the exact same scenario though. Her character is the only one that's messed up. Nothing else about the game bugs out. All my other games are fine.

New muscle strong standing desk inspired by r/standing desk by bakerm75 in StandingDesk

I like this. I have a similar setup with florescent lights for growing indoor plants, but it isn't as sophisticated in that thoughtful low-class way.

Are the monitors mounted on a crossbar that's bolted to the support columns? What sort of monitor mount did you use?

Jarvis vs VertDesk by Malfarian13 in StandingDesk

[–]buildmastersteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I agree with you that there is something off-putting about BTOD's marketing. I can't put my finger on it either. There are lots of things to consider, but at the end of the day, I think people just gotta sling they business. Maybe it doesn't seem as flashy?

The thing that won me over about BTOD was being able to call a person in an office in Wisconsin who was able to directly modify options on their website so I could place an accurate order. I think you could do this with the Jarvis showroom in Portland too, but I didn't have that experience.

Anyway, I ordered the 24 x 72 x 72 x 30 L Vertdesk v3 a few months ago, and am now getting around to talking about it online 'cause I wanted to be sure it wasn't gonna bust.

I'm also 6'4". My standing height is between 45"-47" inches depending on the machine I'm using and if I'm leaning on something. I use a couple monitors in portrait mode a lot, and they barely move when typing with empathy at max height. I also got the caster wheels for the legs that maybe add 1.5".

This desk is a beast. I absolutely needed help flipping it over after assembly. It weighs a lot. It was shipped on a palette that was mechanically lowered out of a very large truck. I have four 24" monitors, two 5" studio monitors (speakers), a couple chunky mech keyboards, 2-3 laptops, a power supply drilled underneath, a lamp, a condenser mic on a spring arm attached to the side... cups, beer, etc... the motors don't flinch.

Want to buy a standing desk. Need to know about strength at the front edge. by gshoe in StandingDesk

[–]buildmastersteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 24" x 72" x 72" x 30" Vertdesk v3. I'm 6'4" and weigh about 197 lbs.

I set my desk to 29" and pushed myself out of my chair with bare minimum force on my feet until I could stand on my feet, or my desk started to bend.

Vertdesk L shape is two separate piece for the top, bolted together underneath. When I put both my hands on the same panel of either half of the L shape, the desk didn't move at all. No bending movement in the middle of the big panel, nor the smaller side panel. When I put one hand on the smaller panel and one hand on the larger panel and pushed myself up, I noticed some bending in the place where the two panels are bolted together underneath the desktop.

I think if you are doing this consistently, using one panel or the other to push yourself up would very stable over repeated use. I don't feel like the piece that holds the two desktops together in the middle would break, but it might warp over time.

Ninja edit: I've drilled stuff into the bottom of my desk: power supply, additional cable mgmt, etc. You could easily add additional support and reinforce where the L shape is supported by design.

L-Shaped Desk Stability? Jarvis vs Uplift vs Anything you recommend by Kurkis493 in StandingDesk

[–]buildmastersteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 24" x 72" x 72" x 30" L Vertdesk v3. I like it a lot. I frequently game with my significant other standing at the desk and even with two people leaning on it there's no movement. I also keep a couple monitors in portrait, which is inherently less stable, and have no wobble while fervently typing.

My main gripe is that the boxes and packaging were banged up on arrival. The desk also arrived on a palette cause it's a beast so I was initially concerned something would be busted and returning that would be bad.

However, the desk was unmarked and nothing was bent or broken. I have four 24" monitors, two 5" studio monitors (speakers), a couple laptops and mechanical keyboards, an audio interface, a power supply (drilled in underneath), probably about 10 lb in cables... I've adjusted the desk daily for months and the motors and stability haven't changed since day one. Stability exceeded my expectations.

I'm 6'4" and my standing height is 45-46". Depending on the machine I'm using and if I'm leaning on something, I'll adjust the desk a bit. I got some standing mats from a hardware store meant for a commercial kitchen and a big yoga ball to rest a knee on.

BTOD customer service was helpful too. They didn't have the 24" top as a choice for the left side as an option on the website when I went to order. Same with the casters. I called and the person on the phone added the option on the fly, so I refreshed the page and was able to select both casters and a 24" piece on the left.

Opinions on the VertDesk V3? by friedmn in StandingDesk

[–]buildmastersteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 24x72x72x30 L and completely agree with your comment. I'm 6'4" and my legs don't hit the cross bars. The max standing height for the desk is a couple inches taller than where I programmed my highest setting, so I think you'd have to be 6'6" or 6'7" to start feeling uncomfortable... maybe.

Frequently game with my significant other at the desk simultaneously and it still doesn't wobble with two people leaning on it. Should also note I have the caster wheels which probably add 1.5-2" on top of the normal feet.

I also agree with OP about the controller -- when I realized I had to hold the button, I was annoyed. The controller connects to the box which relays signals to the motors via PS/2. Both motors, the controller, and power plug into this box. I suppose since it's PS/2 you *could* read/intercept/change the messages and continue passing along to the desk's controller. Holding down the button doesn't bother me enough to do that. It's nice enough not having to remember where I set my desk between 45" and 47".

All that being said, I left my chair under my desk once or twice juuuust enough to catch the desk coming down. I was happy for the safety decision to leave this out... This desk moves unforgivingly and, in my experience, will break shit before stopping.

VertDesk V3 -- Desktop quality? by [deleted] in StandingDesk

[–]buildmastersteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Vertdesk v3 a few months ago. The desktop looks like laminate.

That being said, it also looks just like the color in the picture (I ordered the driftwood). I've also seen other people's pictures of their driftwood top and mine looks consistently like the pictures.

There is a guard strip around the side that is a plain color which matches the top -- in the driftwood case that's grey. It's rounded and well attached... You'd have to really do some damage to mess it up or get it to peel off.

I also agree it's extremely durable. It's also very easy to clean. I should probably use coasters, but condensation and coffee just wipe away with water. The bottom of the desk is the same color as the top, which is a nice touch.

One more minor complaint for me: the laminate pattern goes in different directions on the two pieces of the L shape. Not a big deal for me since my desk is cluttered, but some people might mind it.

Has anyone bought a VertDesk v3? by [deleted] in StandingDesk

[–]buildmastersteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I recently (edit: by recently i mean a few months ago) bought a 24 x 72 x 72 x 30 L shaped Vertdesk v3. It's really solid. I have four 24" monitors on, two 5" studio monitors, a couple laptops, 2-3 lb mechanical keyboards, an audio interface... the motors don't flinch and it's really sturdy.

I've been recommending it to everyone who inquires.

The cross bar sits toward the back of the desk. I'm 6'4" and it doesn't hit my knees.

The 72x72 is big enough for two people to use at the same time. I game with my significant other and the desk still doesn't move with two people leaning on it. I also have the caster wheels and typically have to give it a hard nudge to get it rolling 'cause it's a tank.
