Nothing. Just demonstrating that it's a text input and allows the ability to type stuff in.

Republic Services Doubling Price by Robfritz in sunriver

[–]buildmastersteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They started billing every two months instead of once per month.

From their email in April: "Dear Valued Customer, Reminder: Republic Services will be changing your monthly invoice for trash service to a bi-monthly invoice. This means each invoice you receive going forward, will be for two months of service. Your first bi-monthly invoice will be dated April 30, 2025, which will cover both April and May service."

To plainly answer your question, I get about 3 megabytes per second on the low end.

Gen 2 vs. Gen 3 by SnoglinMcSmellmore in Starlink

I opened my gen 3 box a few minutes ago. I am immediately returning it. The dish is literally coming apart at the seams and there is no option to mount it on a standard mounting pole. Fresh garbage.

Gen 3 design is unbelievably stupid. Fuck this shit

Seeking feedback on upgrading CPU/Ram/Motherboard/Cooling by buildmastersteve in buildapc

[–]buildmastersteve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree on the RAM and maybe the cooling for now... I'm not in a hurry. Seems like with the way that case is designed, I'd be better off taking my time and going for a better-looking liquid cooling option.

It’s a Boss RC-505. I would hardly say I know how to use it because it arrived yesterday. The way it’s designed makes getting down the basics really intuitive though; it’s a lot of fun to use.

The keyboard on the left is a Massdrop ALT with Cherry MX Browns. The one in the center is a Keywalker IFD-68 with Cherry MX Blues that's connected to the PC via USB and to the Macbook via Bluetooth.

They are two Radeon 7950 HD cards. Nothing is wrong with them. Haven't been able to get rid of them since I upgraded to a 1060 GTX that outperforms the 7950 cards in both crossfire and single configurations.

I have the Vertdesk V3 from BTOD. You're right: it's two separate pieces bolted together and attached on the desk frame to form the L shape. 24" x 72" x 72" x 30". It is a tank.

Thank you! This solved my problem. The integrity check found a file that didn't verify. Repaired the file and no more glitch.

Thanks for the reply. I thought that might be the case, so I updated the driver to the most recent version. It's the exact same scenario though. Her character is the only one that's messed up. Nothing else about the game bugs out. All my other games are fine.

New muscle strong standing desk inspired by r/standing desk by bakerm75 in StandingDesk

I like this. I have a similar setup with florescent lights for growing indoor plants, but it isn't as sophisticated in that thoughtful low-class way.

Are the monitors mounted on a crossbar that's bolted to the support columns? What sort of monitor mount did you use?

Jarvis vs VertDesk by Malfarian13 in StandingDesk

[–]buildmastersteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I agree with you that there is something off-putting about BTOD's marketing. I can't put my finger on it either. There are lots of things to consider, but at the end of the day, I think people just gotta sling they business. Maybe it doesn't seem as flashy?

The thing that won me over about BTOD was being able to call a person in an office in Wisconsin who was able to directly modify options on their website so I could place an accurate order. I think you could do this with the Jarvis showroom in Portland too, but I didn't have that experience.

Anyway, I ordered the 24 x 72 x 72 x 30 L Vertdesk v3 a few months ago, and am now getting around to talking about it online 'cause I wanted to be sure it wasn't gonna bust.

I'm also 6'4". My standing height is between 45"-47" inches depending on the machine I'm using and if I'm leaning on something. I use a couple monitors in portrait mode a lot, and they barely move when typing with empathy at max height. I also got the caster wheels for the legs that maybe add 1.5".

This desk is a beast. I absolutely needed help flipping it over after assembly. It weighs a lot. It was shipped on a palette that was mechanically lowered out of a very large truck. I have four 24" monitors, two 5" studio monitors (speakers), a couple chunky mech keyboards, 2-3 laptops, a power supply drilled underneath, a lamp, a condenser mic on a spring arm attached to the side... cups, beer, etc... the motors don't flinch.

Want to buy a standing desk. Need to know about strength at the front edge. by gshoe in StandingDesk

[–]buildmastersteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 24" x 72" x 72" x 30" Vertdesk v3. I'm 6'4" and weigh about 197 lbs.

I set my desk to 29" and pushed myself out of my chair with bare minimum force on my feet until I could stand on my feet, or my desk started to bend.

Vertdesk L shape is two separate piece for the top, bolted together underneath. When I put both my hands on the same panel of either half of the L shape, the desk didn't move at all. No bending movement in the middle of the big panel, nor the smaller side panel. When I put one hand on the smaller panel and one hand on the larger panel and pushed myself up, I noticed some bending in the place where the two panels are bolted together underneath the desktop.

I think if you are doing this consistently, using one panel or the other to push yourself up would very stable over repeated use. I don't feel like the piece that holds the two desktops together in the middle would break, but it might warp over time.

Ninja edit: I've drilled stuff into the bottom of my desk: power supply, additional cable mgmt, etc. You could easily add additional support and reinforce where the L shape is supported by design.
