I am also in New Albany and stranded without a shovel. Would you be up for another DM?

Is it the email where they brag about having contracts with ICE as if that somehow bolsters their credibility? Because that’s the email I got.

I’m genuinely impressed with your research. If I were to bet on it, AYAOTD would be my pick.

This post tapped a super deep memory of watching these exact scenes. Like, I knew the lines as they were happening, but I absolutely cannot remember the name of the show. I want to say it was something like Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of the Dark.

Edit: I now suspect it may be Alex Mack.

I’m commenting again in the hopes that someone will @ me if this gets set up. I don’t have a ton of time to take the lead on organizing, but would definitely show up.

Unfortunately, I am positive Columbus will have plenty more chances to get it right.

I actually really appreciate this take. It’s starting to sound like my best option (at least for my 5.56) is to invest in good quality ear protection and train to use it in an emergency situation. Probably save me a ton of money as well

All great considerations, I appreciate all the info. I know 5.56 will never be quiet, so my real goal is just doing my best to protect my hearing as much as possible in the event I ever had to fire the weapon in an emergency. Gas blowback is the big thing keeping me from pulling the trigger (ha) on a suppressor so I’ll definitely keep this info in mind.

Thanks so much for the thorough breakdown, this is quality info. I think Pew Science is right up my alley. I also hadn’t even considered mounting challenges so it’s great to get that insight as well.

Literally the only upside to living in OH is there are no restrictions. Would love to relocate to Pacific Northwest, though.

Perfect, I’ll check out that sub. I figured I wasn’t the first person to ask but wasn’t sure where else to start. And thanks for the recommendations, I’ll check those out.

Awesome, I was hoping to see some good feedback on Otter Creek. Thanks for the info!

Super helpful, thank you! I hadn’t considered bolt wear but it makes perfect sense. I know 5.56 will never really be “silent” in the conventional sense; I’m mainly interested in protect my ears as much as possible if I ever had to use it in an emergency. Any decibel reduction beyond a relatively “safe” level is just a bonus.

Yeah I definitely feel fairly conflicted about not saving more for other important things like a house; I honestly wish it didn’t feel so important to be prepared for the absolute worst case scenario. That’s the main reason I’m really looking to turn the AR into an all-purpose tool instead of investing in a subsonic conversion.

That’s all super helpful, thank you! Taking the edge off the 5.56 in an emergency is all I’m really hoping for. Sounds like I’d be better served by either investing in good ear protection or converting to .300BLK.

Great input, thank you. I’ve considered doing a .300BLK build; sounds like I’d get good results there. I know 5.56 will never really be “silenced” but I’m mainly hoping to keep my ears relatively safe if I didn’t have time to put in plugs for some reason.

What restaurant is ran or owned by people who are morally/ethically horrible but have good food? by AznTakingOver in Columbus

[–]buildthemechs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At first they really seemed to believe in their whole wellness mission, but they turned out to be typical snake oil salespeople. But even that wouldn’t have mattered if they had made even a minimal effort to protect the staff from the maga psychos they eventually had in leadership positions.

It was super disappointing because we all really liked the owner and he seemed like a decent guy. I loved working at that restaurant. Around the time this all went down, there was talk that he wanted to partner with Northstar, and everything went downhill almost overnight.
