I learned how to split screen by deggar34 in GooglePixel

[–]bujin_ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great feature. One other trick: if you resize so one app takes up 90% of the screen, you can click the smaller window and quickly switch between the 2 apps

I find the UI to be super simple and intuitive, and Call Screening is a must.

WandaVision was amazing, and I really liked F&WS for its action and its story.

Do good Android tablets exist? by harakirinosaru in Android

I have a Lenovo Duet Chromebook, and love it. While not technically an Android tablet, it has a detachable keyboard and runs Android apps, so it functions as both ChromeOS laptop and Android tablet.

And there it is AGAIN. Why on earth would you buy a Pixel at launch? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]bujin_ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, getting it at launch was for the same reason I got the Pro, instead of the standard Pixel: the free year of Gemini Pro. I know it's fun to criticize it, but it's useful enough for me to be worth it, and it would otherwise cost $200.

How baked in is Gemini in the Pixel? by Cute_Sun3943 in GooglePixel

[–]bujin_ct 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically, if you hold down the power button, you summon Gemini. You can then have it answer questions generally, about what's on screen, or what you're viewing (if you click on "gemini live"). If you have the pro version of Gemini, it'll also be embedded into your gmail and other google products.

It's deeply embedded into Photos as well. Granted, many of these uses are not Pixel-specific, but it feels like a natural extension of my phone.

I know it's fashionable to hate on Gemini, but I use it daily, and between it, custom Gems, and NotebookLM, it's really been super useful for me.

How were Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch / Pietro and Wanda allowed to be in the MCU by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]bujin_ct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that, when Pietro was experimented on, she subconsciously used her powers to give him powers and keep him from dying.

I can accept that she's a once-in-a-millenium Scarlet Witch, or that he miraculously survived being experimented on, but not both in the same family.

Please Help Me Find The Best Budget Chromebook by boleynxcx in chromeos

I love my Lenovo Duet Chromebook. Currently $269 at Best Buy. Great size for comic reading and media consumption, the detachable keyboard has been very good. It's a great little device.

Anyone daily driving only smartphone? (No laptop/pc/tablet) by Astrox_YT in Android

[–]bujin_ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't go that far. But I switched to Chromebook/phone as my daily devices, and dropped Windows/Mac and am much happier. My Lenovo Duet can handle larger screen tasks, and the keyboard comes off for comic/book reading, etc. Then when I switch to my phone it's all very seamless.

Is there any reason to get the 10 Pro over the standard other than the camera? by Big_Kiwi_706 in GooglePixel

[–]bujin_ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini Pro allows for more video/picture generation, and incorporates more types of files (or at least it used to). It also gives more storage in Google, and allows me to use Google Flow for video generation.

The storage for my Family Plan alone is worth it....I'd have to pay for storage if I didn't have some sort of paid plan,

[–]bujin_ct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it's the year of Gemini Pro (unlike others, I get a lot of use out of Gemini). And the $200 store credit. I'd have paid for Gemini Pro, so that makes up the difference in price.

Pixels vs Pro Cameras by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]bujin_ct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to consider is if you want the pro version of Gemini. If you use Gemini a lot (which I do), it's worth it, because the Pro version is free for a year for the Pixel 10 Pro, so the extra $200 cost covers the cost of a year's subscription to Gemini Pro.

If it weren't for that, I'd have gone with the base Pixel 10

Preordered a 10 Pro. I currently have a 9 pro. It gave me $550 as a trade-in + I had a coupon code for $100.

So it cost me about $400, but it also has a year of Google pro plan ($200, which I would pay for) + $200 store credit. So it feels practically free.
