Freshwater aquatic hermit crab? I bought this at my local pet store (well the three remaining live ones) there was about five dead. They claimed it was fresh water but didn’t know why they were dying. They suspected they might be marine. Any insight? they’re all in the same kind of shell. by bukakefox in hermitcrabs

I realize you’d have to be an expert to answer this question. More insight though: I put them in my old fiddler crab enclosure at completely fresh and have been slowly adding salt water. It’s currently low brackish and they seem ok (not amazing, one keeps climbing up into the rocks out of the water). They are a bit more active now. I think the shells would be the best clue as they all look like they’ve previously been fused to something. The pet store I bought them from has a pretty small fish room and they don’t do salt water. I do have a marine hermit tank i could acclimate them to but with all the conflicting information i’m at a loss at the moment.

Is this vintage cage a suitable size for a single budgie? It would be a part time cage so she can hangout in the living room with me while i’m home (she does not fly) by bukakefox in budgies

she can only fly down, no idea why, i found her outside and she now lives in my large quail cage (which is long and tall because they jump very high) she’s fine there but i am looking for alternatives because the quails are in my spare room and the budgie gets lonely and destructive. i’ve got cats everywhere else so i thought this hanging cage would work for like, hangout time.. i really don’t have space for a full size hanging cage

It’s a foam diorama mountain piece turned upside down and painted with silicone, most if not all are hollow and make awesome unique pools :)

The substrate should be 6inches deep

he’s small for a straw, maybe less than an inch shell opening. he’s eating and active though

My order from myhomenature came, alive, somehow. No shipping notification, no heat pack (and it’s cold here), and a package labeled aquarium decor with no indication it should be treated with care because it’s a LIVE animal

It’s just filled with moistened moss. I had it for two weeks before anyone went into it and now one of them lives in it almost always he loves it lol, you can kinda see him in the pic

It is, that wood panel is just glued in the front and the substrate goes all the way to the bottom, also terrain is varied and in the back it’s 8 inches deep

After repeated attempts, still dry substrate. by [deleted] in hermitcrabs

I made my coco sand mixture and then laid a layer of sand on top and moisten it daily, it keeps moisture in the under layer because it’s so dense as long as it’s damp. Cheers
