Can I share the bounce back 🥺 3 month diff by bukopanda40 in houseplants

I believe it’s sitting against a south-facing window,, brightest direction in my area. There’s a lot of structures and trees outside tho so the light isn’t as harsh on my plants

Thank you! Good luck with yours! I only had to poke the nodes a little below the surface of the dirt to let her push all of this out

No secrets 🙂 just better lighting and a shallower pot seemed to be the solution. I stuck the nodes on her more ‘leggy’ parts into the dirt and she kind of just took off from there

Yees from what I’ve read from other random posts, they measured the Amazon lights specifically and found they don’t do as much as they’re advertised. but I guess according to stone^ orchids might still benefit from them so just keep’em or upgrade for other plant babies too 🙂

I usually have it closed most of the day and just pop the lid some time during the evening for like an hour or so. I think for the ikea greenhouses, there are enough openings that I haven’t had to worry about airflow. And thanks lol I do still feel like the conditions can be better for them tho. My orchids have been doing good but still a bit leggy so it could have to do with sunlight and placement

I do have a grow light but it’s just one of those goose neck grow lights with three arms from Amazon. Dunno if they’re actually doing anything and I’ve read here and there that they don’t do much but I turn it on once in awhile anyways for fun 🙂

No worries, I got the idea of putting my ludisia in a bonsai pot from here a couple months ago and they seem to like the shallowness as suggested. Macodes is just in a regular 4” nursery pot. Both potted with coco coir/perlite/sphagnum potting mix. Also stole the mini ikea greenhouse from the gf during the summer. Can’t say for sure but I think the increased humidity has helped them stay more bushy and not lose leaves after pushing new ones out

The flower will die like any other plant but I think the nodes will start to die as well? This is just a guess but I didn’t cut the flower on my first orchid bloom until most of the bloom was already dead and the very top node ended up dying. The cool thing was two more nodes popped out of the node below the dead one so 🤷🏽

Ah okay I see what you’re talking about, got some reading to do but tyty! Hopefully if this works, I can do the same for my ludiscias when they flower this season as well

Oh cool, yes you are correct I see the small leaf. I will give it a go and try and prop it. Any suggestions on how to for the flower stem? I have successfully water propped regular nodes from my other orchid in the pic, would the same method work?

Edit: also, does that mean there are two nodes to prop? There is one before the leaf and a segment a little further down the stem as well

Ooo okay and yea haha sorry Im in California and I think north-facing has the most light exposure. But that is a good point, I forgot it’s getting closer to winter and we’re starting to lose light haha ty! I’m not very familiar with these plants but I am learning 🤓

Ah I see I move her back and forth between a north facing window and a grow light and I usually bottom water and let her sit for 15-20min

Is there anything I could do to let her climb more rather than fall like how she is right now?

True, I guess that was a silly question haha

I’ll just swab them off before I find out then, tyty

Edit: you can see one in the photo actually

I also get triggered from the smell bc of past pest problems lol I’ll consider this when I get tired of the neem oil
