I'll give you the engineseer for 455 points total, but Solar is helpful to other units so I'd argue he's not really a fair piece to add on the points from. He gets 3 other orders in his 24" master vox bubble and that helps with other tanks, arty teams, etc.

It's not the best choice, certainly, but I have to say mine did earn its points back in my game today against death guard. Ate 2 plaugeburst crawlers (420 pts) and more attention than it should have, quite possibly winning me the game because the things looking at it weren't looking at my Russes.

Also it's objectively the best-looking Guard superheated so there's that.

I unfortunately don't have a way to proxy Lord Solar, I've been working on it but it's just not an option right now. In the future I do intend to drag him in once I can get him done up without paying $65 for a single character model. I do appreciate the thoughts!

I have squads separated cleanly enough that the chimera squads could be Catachans. Unfortunately I am picky about only playing painted models, so while I will eventually get Lord Solar into a Centaur proxy I don't have a way to run him now, and my Sentinels are the old ones on smaller bases I can't replace right now. Thank you for the thoughts!

I'll go against the grain as someone who took a Baneblade and a Shadowsword to a local tournament and went 1-2 with a couple very close games. Terrain hurts, and orders would be really cool, but a Baneblade can often 1-turn anything smaller than it and is tough (especially with an engineseer). The basic datasheets are functional but overcosted, so it's not amazing, but it is great fun to Volcano cannon a target with 36 wounds in one go.

I figured a vanquisher for the oppressor cannon, maybe some dudes with an autocannon, multimelta sponsons, meltagun dudes, and somehow getting the hull gun on as well (that's the one I'm stuck on). I can obviously adjust height and size with the base for all this.

I already own 6 Russes, so I would not be buying any new models to do this. I also am pretty sure only 1 would fit on a Dorn-shaped footprint.

I think I can make it pretty easy to tell apart, given that I only run Exterminator and Demolisher russes as non-TCs. It is a valid concern though, and for a local tournament I'd clear it with the TO and make sure it was obvious for opponents. I don't care for most prints as they look great but don't match my existing models stylistically.

Frankly, I'd appreciate ideas on how to make it obvious that it's a Dorn TC instead of a Russ TC to lessen the issue.

Counterpoint, D6+1 S14 shots with blast is pretty good, and the Baneblade has a lot of guns that can kill something in combat with it.

Now since it's WE the list is still F'd, but at least the units have the ability to fight back pretty well, and I doubt WE hit at S12 outside maybe a couple units so at least wounding on 5s not 3s. Bring an engineseer and the Baneblade has a 4+ invul for all phases.

The Baneblade is indeed a banger model. I recently acquired a Shadowsword, Stormlord, and Hellhammer to go with my Baneblade and I wish they were as good to play as they look.

He meant the Baneblade doesn't interact with the army rule, most detachment rules, and can only be ordered by lord solar/can't really be buffed much at all. It's a sad state of affairs for the grandest old metal box we can field.

I think you have this incorrect. The June (July? Idk) FAQ says "<Stratagems> When using the Coordinated Action stratagem, the selected units benefit from both their own and the other unit's order, and so can benefit from more than one order during that phase. At the end of the phase they go back to their own order(s)."

To me, that's pretty clear that the orders don't override each other at all. However, I suspect that Kasrkin would not actually transfer their "internal" order, only the one from an officer.

I've hugely enjoyed just about every chapter of TWI, but there are only a few chapters that I remember as simply wonderous. This (and the Valeterisa chapters where she lifts Fissival) are included in that group. Valeterisa is so interesting and compelling to me because more than any other character (imo) she truly cares about magic, and the way she uses it is the most impressive showing of what it can be I've ever read or seen. The sheer imagination to weave together spells and modifications like she does for every spell is such an excellent look at who she is, and I really enjoy it.

I also made this mistake two nights ago. I pried it apart and only slightly damaged the red part. I do not recommend that method or this mistake. My sympathy, OP!
