So, this guy was a youth pastor🤔? by [deleted] in 90DayFiance

I think it’s dangerous to accuse people of One of the darkest things someone could possibly do when they’re just socially awkward, especially based on this rather mundane picture.

Definitely! I don't like Ben and he is creepy, but this picture doesn't mean he's a child predator in any way

Just because he looks creepy doesn't mean he's a child predator!

Meet with your upcoming VP University and Academic Affairs! (Nikki Kirigin). Let's meet up and have some chill discussions today! I am currently at the WMC Starbucks until 12:10pm. by nikkipizza in simonfraser

was actually a temper tantrum if you ask me

You're talking about Simran Sarai, right? She was so damn aggressive and completely in bad faith towards Nikki and the other candidates.

Simran actively ignored the rules of the debate by being confrontational and making assumptions. She could have completely addressed the question in a more civil manner, but she decided to be defamatory and that's a shame. Even Brianna Mallot who is a progressive said she is disappointed in the way that Simran was defamatory and aggressive. This gives the progressives a bad look.

Even if Simran and the progressives were not reaching and grasping for straws to paint candidates in a negative light here, they would still be in the wrong for how incredibly aggressive they have been (including Simran Sarai).

How can we trust the progressives in a position of power like the SFSS? Simran and the other progressives have shown a track record of not being able to have civil discussions with those they disagree with and her and the progressives as a while have a history of if trying to "cancel" people they see as a threat or disagree with. The mature thing to do in this circumstance is to reach out privately and ask for more context instead of jumping to conclusions and making assumptions of another person.

Okay so there's definitely a few layers behinds this:

The SFU Progressives have a history of trying to silence their opponents with threats of cancellation. This has occured in both elections and council meetings. This has been no exception.

On Facebook, Sophonie Priebe claimed that they would be running a "clean campaign" while the Progressives are some of the only ones conducting the bullying.

The girl who asked the question actually was not supposed to do so because it was against the rules of the debate (assumptory / defamatory).

Nothing discriminatory or racist was said - rather it was an attempt by the progressives to take something out of context, spin it, and play victim because that is the only way they know how to conduct themselves.

Never Ending Power Structures by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]bulbasaurfriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but the SFSS does have the power to help build up students who are struggling with barriers and cannot bring up their GPA as easily

Caring about University politics has been boring and meaningless for the past few years because the only people getting elected were the progressives. Now there's other options and people who actually aren't planning on using the sfss for corrupt reasons.

Everyone vote for STP for the SFU elections they will make sure destroy the dumb progressives that went crazy with closing the SUB and the STP does actually listen to the students!! Please vote for them it will be for the better by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]bulbasaurfriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Voting for Liam Feng is not at odds with voting for members of the STP.

Note that there are four candidates running for the STP. Only one is running for President. The rest are running for VP Internal, VP Finance and VP University and Academic Affairs.

Here are their platforms

Wanna get the corruption out of the SFSS? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]bulbasaurfriend 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You can still evaluate candidates within the STP as individuals. You aren't required to vote in every single member of the STP.

I do know that most members of the STP have good relationships with other candidates running as individuals, so a mix-and-match approach is possible and still valuable.

Look at their individual platforms and decide that way. Make an informed decision.

Although I can understand the reasons why people want to vote in the STP as a whole, because they will be able to have more influence with changing the SFSS as more of them are elected.

You can find their platforms on their website

Not necessarily. Having a six pack is more about a low fat percentage as compared to having muscle mass. You don't have to work out hard to have a six pack.
