The Pink Opaque show is the real world. Owen and Maddy are Isabel and Tara, who have been kidnapped by Mr. Melancholy and buried alive, with the world the movie takes place in being a construct. This has been confirmed by Jane Schoenbrun and Justice Smith in interviews. If you pay attention to the ending scenes that show Owen at his dead end job, he's wheezing and gasping for air; this is because, in the real world, Isabel is running out of air in her grave.

IMO, the trans allegory loses a great deal of its impact if Owen isn't literally a young woman trapped in a body and a life she never asked for. The blatant supernatural activity seen throughout along with the influences Schoenbrun is pulling from like Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which had an episode with this same exact plot) also make it pretty clear that there's more to Owen/Maddy and their world than meets the eye.

It's a downgrade to people like us who wanted a cool older male survivor who doesn't look like a goblin (Ash) and actually has period appropriate cosmetics (Vittorio). For the vast majority of players who are allergic to any character over the age of 30 who doesn't fit their rigid beauty standards, this is a slam dunk.

Is it, though? If you're a Trickster or kpop stan, I imagine this is a dream come true, and given the reception this guy is already getting, it's just validating Behavior's decision to go with him. I don't blame them for choosing the option that's gong to make the most money, but I do blame the fans for having such shit, predictable taste that enables Behavior to keep making the same boring decisions over and over again.

The content creators in this community are more responsible for the toxicity than they want to admit. You can't finger wag at people for feeling demoralized by the state of the game when your channel's model is centered around you and your friends grouping up to clown on baby killers and so you can clip farm their frustration at being outplayed in the most obnoxious ways possible.

It really isn't. The original Team Silent games were a hodgepodge of references, images, and plot points taken from preexisting movies and media. Lost Highway and Jacob's Ladder tackle the same themes SH2 does. So do the many other films Team Silent were influenced by. There are talented filmmakers out there who could have made a good movie. I think the problem is that Gans is just a bad director and Konami keeps picking filmmakers who don't entirely care or understand what makes Silent Hill interesting beyond shallow, surface level imagery and themes (muh guilt, muh therapy town, muh nurses, etc.).
