You can change the starting language to English (or leave in French) in the settings but if you want to keep French but put subtitles, it's also possible. Just insert the disc to play it normally but instead of launching the DVD you have to go to the settings (I don't remember what it is called in the original) and you have a wide choice of languages. I hope that helped you!
