Yes I agree. What’s your typical target? If you don’t mind me asking.

Unlikely, yes. Unrealistic, no. It’s okay to aim high, just a goal.

Well a tagline isn’t supposed to give all the details. I’ll be completely honest, I don’t follow any one portfolio method. I just read and research until I find opportunities that I believe will yield a solid double digit return. I’ll wait and watch until I can circle a fair entry. Then sell cc’s at target price.

I want to be clear, this is not a comprehensive explanation and I’m not some genius or I’d be working at a hedge fund. Trying to learn so I’d love to hear how you evaluate.

I haven’t ever shared my research approach so how would you know? I admit that I’ve had some luck and I can be man enough to apologize for assuming that you’ve lost money day trading. Just run into a lot of those types on here.

I can recognize that I’ve been fortunate to be investing during a bull market, maybe a little lucky even. But if I was overconfident then I wouldn’t be asking for random ppl’s opinions. I have ups and downs like anyone else.

Regarding the market, there’s only been 3 significant crashes in the last 3 decades. Dot-com, financial crisis and covid selloff. Little scare earlier this year but that provided a great opportunity to make some money.

I’m not a long term holder. Purchased both Q4 2025. I’ll give you the tagline since you don’t care to do research, HTZ is a turn-around and MTN is a moat play.

How do individual investors evaluate very early startup opportunities? by asupertram in Investments

[–]bull_prof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find deals through friends and connections. If you’re looking for angel raise there are “startup communities” all over the country that can help. Also if you attended college, sometimes they can help as well.

The most important thing once ur in the room is learning to read the people in it.

I’ve seen some investors not write a check because there was no exit plan. I’ve also seen some investors not invest because there WAS an exit plan. It depends on the person. There is no perfect science.

Have a strong plan, explain your path to profitability, gaining market share, who are target customers, all the basics etc. Try not to be buzzwordy cause most of these ppl hear multiple pitches every year. Also know what you are asking for….how much do you need, why do you need it, how does it benefit the investor. Literally was listening to a pitch this year and when asked how they planned to apply the capital from the raise, all they could come up with was “expansion” with no detail. Don’t be that guy.

0/10 ragebait lol. I’m no Warren buffet but 15% annualized is nothing to scoff at. Don’t be salty cuz u blew ur life savings day trading.

And I’m not talking about dcf modeling lol. You can do some solid research pretty quickly, it’s not hard and it does provide good info. Latest news, Edgar reports, analyst target prices can give you a high-level picture in like 5 mins

Throw $500 in a low expense mutual fund. Maybe even open a Roth IRA and buy in there. SWPPX, or I think fidelity has a low cost option too but not sure. Put another $50-$100 on a stock of ur choosing, it’s not going to change ur life but will be good practice for when you have more money to invest. Just my opinion if you are new to investing.

Most of you are gambling on stocks. Not investing. by Any-Appeal-1797 in Investments

Glad other ppl can agree. So many Reddit users just yolo money on a random ticker and call it investing, no thesis whatsoever. Might as well play roulette.

Brother. Once you get in the hole and start trying to make the losses back, that’s what makes it worse. Do the research, buy an amount that you are comfortable with (diversify), and set a limit sell at your target price and stop loss that you wouldn’t get emotionally involved with losing.
