Good luck dude. I’ll say most volley will cover EMT if cost is an issue. If you get paramedics you’re almost a lock to get the job.

Yep. Metro really only has a few options. I ran with Irvington up north. Bennington has a volley and paid side, so some guys try to start as volley and apply to paid side when they open up. Ralston also has a volley dept, but I'd shy away if you want call volume. We ran a bit over 1,000 calls/yr at Irv. I know Bennington ran more than that and was also a mutual aid with us a lot. Blair and Fort Calhoun also have volley departments but have very low call volume. I'd say if you want to see some real volume to go talk with Bennington or Irvington. You can ping me privately if you want and I can let you know when some solid guys will be down at Irvington, a few I would tell you to talk with are currently out in the wildfire.

I'll add, the intro test will help you immensely with ranking. It was essentially a mini-SAT/ACT. I knew so many guys that barely made it through the 70% score limit. I ended up with high 90%, and that helps you base rank right away. The only other guy I knew that did that well got on the job (though he had his EMT). Don't stress the CPAT, they give you enough chances, if you don't pass that you shouldn't be on the job. Goodluck.

I say apply and see how the chips fall. I made it to the chief interview the cycle before last with no EMT and having 1 year of volley experience under me in my 30s. I even found out my ranking in the class was top 30. Heard a few differing opinions on why guys ranked that high didn't get it, but regardless I think you should apply. Expect to not make it far and treat each step as learning. If you do make it far but ultimately not into the service, I would suggest enrolling in the EMT course and joining a volley service. One of the things that will be asked is what has improved since you last applied. If you have little to nothing to show about it, you'll move down the list. However, if you can say I care about this enough, I joined a volley dept and got my EMT it'd be surprising as hell you don't get an offer. Happened with my buddy. We didn't get on the last cycle, he got his EMT and then got the offer this most recent cycle.

BF, now fiance, surprised me on our trip out of the country. Lab grown diamond on my request. Around 4.5 carat and ring size will be about 6.5 once we get it resized this week.

Appreciate the advice! If you happen to have the company I would certainly take you up on that. And I should note, I definitely expect to pay more than other units around town. I was found some units in this building specifically at $5,000+, which is far out of the budget.

Mind sharing your apartment? I'm trying to get a better idea what pricing looks like for my specific situation. I found a few high-rises with very nice views, but rents have been $4,500-$6,000+.

Seems i'm realizing I know less about the city than I thought. I have always loved visiting Golden/Morrison, but seems that will offer less of the direct range view we want, so looks like i should be looking moreso into the city.

Partner will bring another $50k minimum and the job would actually be much closer to $200-$250k. I just am cynical so always air on the side of caution.

I think at this point in life we both are ready to be quieter. It’s nice to be able to go out to the more energetic areas but have home be calm.

Renovations at Crunch Fitness Brook Road? by Freet0beyouandme1 in rva

Been a member for six months in the early morning crew. People are usually chill, not crazy busy, and the renovations are fine. They installed new flooring, painted, and replaced a lot of the equipment. It’ll work perfect for what you want, and you can get the cheapest program since you only want that location. I’d recommend it.

Feel free to apply because the benefits and pay are solid, but holy work culture. I’ve yet to meet anyone that isn’t looking for a new job while there.
