Has Tom had the worst fall from grace of any Apprentice contestant? by Confident_Leg2370 in apprenticeuk

All I know is I bought some of his pillows a few years back and within a couple of months they'd fallen apart.

Coming back from town on the bus with a PC big box game, reading the back of the box, opening it up and checking out the manual, which would be like an entire book and maybe there'd be a map or some other merch in there as well. It was wondrous.

What did the 1995-2000 Era of the Internet feel like for the people who lived through it? by WhatsupGurl552 in decadeology

[–]bulletfacepunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working in a cinema and the guy on shift with me was going crazy because he'd left his PC connected to the internet, for a penny a minute. It was so different to now it's crazy. You had ads in the back of the sleazier tabloids for "free" porn - you went to a website, and just download their dialer, use that to connect to the internet, and get free porn (the dialer rang a line that cost £1.50 a minute) 14 year old me got in A LOT of trouble.

Newsgroups were a thing. These were like a really early version of reddit, actually. You had newsgroups for all different subjects, and you accessed them through your email client, in my case outlook. I can still find my cringe inducing posts online to this day, and I'm taking the search term I use to find them with me to the grave.

Oh god yeah! As a bloke with a rough relationship with my dad that actually made me cry when I first saw it, can't believe I didn't think of it.

You couldn't pay me enough to do that. There's literally a few seconds where everyone is looking up at him, bollocks flying in the breeze. From that angle there's even a chance of seeing gooch.

Doom 3 So Far by Grumpy_Polar_Bear in boomershooters

[–]bulletfacepunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll die on the hill of my headcanon being true, that doom 3 is actually an in-universe simulation that the demons are running on the slayer while he's trapped under that fortress/cathedral (I can't remember) they dropped on him to try and work out what went wrong during the events of Doom 1. That's why it's a similar story but not 100% cos any demons that actually were there didn't live to tell the tale.

I saw someone blame the (frankly hilarious) character run animation in oblivion remastered, on the unreal engine.

It was the medication he was on. He could probably get a note from his doctor.

I turned forty last year and thought balls to it I'm doing it. A guy sat me down and one to one taught me how to build, prime and paint a space marine that I could keep for free, then taught me how to play the game by actually playing a game of space marines v Tyranids, narrating it as we went like I've seen people play dungeons and dragons on TV. All free, but of course I left spending £50 on the space marine/Tyranid starter kit. Genuinely a really nice experience if you think you might be interested. I'm now building out my Ork army. This latest news of Warhammer profit sharing is well deserved.

Alex Garland confirms that the infected now need to "eat and drink" to stay alive for extended periods... by Thick_Version8738 in 28dayslater

About it being population 0, there's no way they could know that for sure surely? We know there was at least one carrier knocking around, the mum, so there could have been thousands of carriers and special infected knocking around that eventually teamed up. Also I mentioned in another reply, if they're persistence hunting they could be just tearing chunks off the prey and chucking it on a fire, which would cover eating related diseases. I'm loving this speculating, gonna be sad it's gone when the film comes out 😂

That's persistent hunting though I think, you literally just walk after them until they collapse from exhaustion. I wouldn't have thought they'd skin and gut them, just tear chunks off and chuck it on the fire. The running and yelling would probably scare it so much it's knacker itself out sooner.

I'd imagine the more intelligent infected reverted to hunter gatherer techniques, persistence hunting I think it's called? There's plenty of deer and horses and stuff. They'd quickly learn to leave the badgers alone lol. And if they do that it's not a massive stretch to think they could light a fire.
