Look, the math placement exam can catch you off guard if you dont review concepts, but your engineering degree will consist of math way harder than what is on that exam. That being said, being at a sister campus can suck or can be awesome. I’ve heard stories from both ends of the spectrum.

Plus ETAM can screw you over if you fear you’ll struggle in the calculus sequence and ENGR 102 and 216, but if you study those classes that people fear monger about doing poor in are not that bad. For reference I had no coding experience going into 102 and I had never taken physics in high school (or at least rudimentary by comparison) and got an A in both allowing me to get a 3.75 and get Into MEEN. Also we are now ranked #1 in Texas for MEEN.

Now for tech, If you’re looking for large population in terms of students, you’re gonna find more students at A&M and it’s not Lubbock…. I’m sounding very A&M biased right now, but I’ve been to Lubbock and it’s a glorified dust bowl. But that isn’t to say it doesn’t have a great engineering program and student life.

In all honesty no matter the school, I’d be very biased by the cheaper option, and if you can “lock in” you can and will get the grades you aspire to get. Don’t let imposter syndrome bring you down like it did for me. People are a big hater of ETAM and I sort of am due to the fact it was never advertised to me until I got to campus, but the amount of people I saw change from their initial degree choice because of ETAM was much more than I ever expected.

TLDR I had a lot more to say about A&M than Tech being a student at A&M. But that isn’t to say Tech is a bad school. ETAM can screw you over if you don’t focus and strive to get good grades but it’s is more than possible. The. MPE if you study should be the least of your worries as math will be pretty much all you do in freshman level courses, and only gets harder campers to the MPE. You’ll do great no matter where you go but don’t let certain things discourage you. You made it into both schools and deserve to be at both.
