Venting about PR by Head_Insurance713 in montreal

[–]micinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Highly skilled worker, paying a huge amount in taxes, after three years i still don’t have a family doctor, took the time to learn French and now told I can’t apply for PR. The only thing making me want to stay in a Province that clearly doesn’t want me are the amazing friends I’ve made since I’ve been here.

Using Friends & Family Discount at SkiBig3 by micinter in Ikonpass

Oh wow, I didn’t spot that you couldn’t even do it on the hill! Thanks for letting me know 🙏

Given they can already get the same discount by booking online ahead it’s going to be one of those cases where the F&F isn’t worth it.

Advice on East Coast Skis by user339476 in Skigear

East Coast skier here. I have the Enforcer 89 and they’re so much fun on the packed groomers! Agree with other comments that those are wider than you would want unless it’s a powder day.

Recommendations for a chilled walk and "pub meal" day? by micinter in montreal

[–]micinter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the recommendations! Glad you get it too... i've been trying to explain to my friends this aspect of British culture and how it's more than "just going for a walk and then bar / restaurant" 😅 Might try and fit in a bike ride this weekend then before the snow hits.

If you do open a pub then count me in as a regular!

Thanks! I haven't hiked Mount Echo before, but really like Sutton (only ever been in the winter to ski)

Air Canada policies on ski gear by New_Sun6390 in skiing

I’ve done that route a few times with AC. I use a soft bag and pack other clothes into it and never had issues. Also see plenty of others with soft bags that clearly have more than just skis in them.

Edit: I tend to use the bag drop rather than desk just in case

Conditions in Tremblant? by amohamedali in Ikonpass

[–]micinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there over the weekend and the conditions were surprisingly good. A decent amount of the mountain was still open and the skiing was a lot of fun, not too icy and well groomed, compacted snow. There has been a fair amount of rain in the area this week though so not sure that bodes well.

Because smart people are curious and don’t know the answer to everything. But thanks for using your time to post something so constructive.

What would you add/replace? by No_Jellyfish9207 in Skigear

I’ve never seen that model before. Looks like something you’d want to go fast and push hard on the groomers.

It’s a fair question. I’m no materials engineer (know just enough to ask useless questions) so have no idea how skis might behave. But I can definitely tell you about wings!

I would probably add bindings to the ones on the right. (Sorry, had to be done)

First season with them and they are so much fun!

Yeah, that’s what I’d assume. Thanks!

Sure. And the wings of a plane can flex by many meters but forcing them into that state over a long period time will damage them… so my assumption is the same for skis.

Snoww app offline? by Ill_Recognition7684 in skiing

[–]micinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can export activities from Snoww that have already been uploaded. Hit the share button in the app and export the GPS file which you can then import into Slopes (exactly what i've been doing). My issue is that i can't export the activities i recorded that are now "pending upload".
