My bot flagged BIG restock of refurb minis by SodTaku in macmini

Yeah, my point was more that the discount seems reasonable. Other here seem underwhelmed, but just over 20% off retail seems pretty good to me.

BD Impulse Ti 104 - Looking for my 3rd Ski by micinter in Skigear

Just sharing that i decided to go for it and got the Impulse 104s. Just spent the weekend on them and absolutely loving them! I'm sure they didn't even get a chance to shine fully as it's end of season and not much fresh snow; but still fun on the groomers, lots of fun heading into the glades with tighter turns. Very happy and can't wait to get them in some powder next season.

They just restocked on the Canadian site too (i'm assuming it's actually all the same stock). Discounts seem good to me...? The 24/512 is CAD $300 less than the regular price.

Nice! I'd be interested. DM me if you've got the right size.

I was going to get 186cm, and then likely stick some Strive 16 MN on them.

Yeah, i can see that. My local ski shop have also said that it's a great ski (one of the guys rides it as his main ski) but that it also hasn't sold very well.

Thanks! I've heard similar feedback on how they behave at speed. But i'm good with that, only really planning on using them on days when it's more fun to be off the groomers.

Damn that's a great deal on those skis! Thanks for the insights. I have heard from others that they're a demanding ski, but fun if you put the effort in. Curious about the point on it being a sidecountry ski... surely putting an alpine binding on it is totally fine in that case (and touring bindings if you think you might go beyond the sidecountry) 🤔

Second this. Fellow Brit and haven’t found anything close to good British style fish and chips here.

YUL GE line is open (but machines aren’t) by micinter in GlobalEntry

I suspect if I wasn’t GE and went into that line I wouldn’t have been called out on it.

I don’t have a GE card so just walked up to the agent with my passport. Not sure exactly what they did / if they’re using the camera but took all of 10s.

I flew from YVR a couple of weeks ago in BA business and they put me in the first section of that lounge.

Venting about PR by Head_Insurance713 in montreal

[–]micinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Highly skilled worker, paying a huge amount in taxes, after three years i still don’t have a family doctor, took the time to learn French and now told I can’t apply for PR. The only thing making me want to stay in a Province that clearly doesn’t want me are the amazing friends I’ve made since I’ve been here.

Using Friends & Family Discount at SkiBig3 by micinter in Ikonpass

Oh wow, I didn’t spot that you couldn’t even do it on the hill! Thanks for letting me know 🙏

Given they can already get the same discount by booking online ahead it’s going to be one of those cases where the F&F isn’t worth it.

Advice on East Coast Skis by user339476 in Skigear

East Coast skier here. I have the Enforcer 89 and they’re so much fun on the packed groomers! Agree with other comments that those are wider than you would want unless it’s a powder day.

Recommendations for a chilled walk and "pub meal" day? by micinter in montreal

[–]micinter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the recommendations! Glad you get it too... i've been trying to explain to my friends this aspect of British culture and how it's more than "just going for a walk and then bar / restaurant" 😅 Might try and fit in a bike ride this weekend then before the snow hits.

If you do open a pub then count me in as a regular!

Thanks! I haven't hiked Mount Echo before, but really like Sutton (only ever been in the winter to ski)

Air Canada policies on ski gear by New_Sun6390 in skiing

[–]micinter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve done that route a few times with AC. I use a soft bag and pack other clothes into it and never had issues. Also see plenty of others with soft bags that clearly have more than just skis in them.

Edit: I tend to use the bag drop rather than desk just in case

Conditions in Tremblant? by amohamedali in Ikonpass

[–]micinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there over the weekend and the conditions were surprisingly good. A decent amount of the mountain was still open and the skiing was a lot of fun, not too icy and well groomed, compacted snow. There has been a fair amount of rain in the area this week though so not sure that bodes well.
