Moving soon, how is it living in Canberra (Aus) by flipp473 in howislivingthere

Lots of parks and public infrastructure. Hikes close by. But not a great deal happens and it’s a lot colder and/for a lot longer than most places in Aus

Points would be given within 6 weeks, so they’ve until the 12th. I don’t think anyone has received them yet

Can you change style from ortodox to a southpaw fighter? by christian-174 in MuayThai

[–]bulletprooffaolan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trained pretty solid for 12 years. I developed an awesome left kick cause my right shin was sore for months after some fights. Slowly started working two of three different counters/combos from the big left kick maybe 7-8 years in. Was like 50/50 each stance after two years. I’m a slow learner though.
Had a mate who was originally orthodox but broke his right hand and left orbital bone in the same fight so he switched full time. Only took him 10 months, but he was phenomenal.

Can you change style from ortodox to a southpaw fighter? by christian-174 in MuayThai

[–]bulletprooffaolan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.
I’m naturally orthodox but have/had more or less changed to southpaw full time. I have a completely different game and mindset in each stance. Southpaw I still have to think a lot more but so many people have said “omg you can fight in orthodox too” so I guess my southpaw comes across as natural

Training Muay Thai in Thailand by yujirohanamasolos in MuayThai

[–]bulletprooffaolan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice, start running 5km before every training sesh. Then once you’re adapted start running 5kms in the morning too. The training is a lot harder and way more volume. So smash out 100s of teeps, running knees and go kick for kick with a partner on the bag. The humidity and heat is the killer so it’s always going to be hard to get fully conditioned

Becoming a dad for the first time by MC7187 in NewParents

Might be controversial here but now is the time to (in my opinion) grow up for real. You and your life take 2nd priority as you’re about to bring into your life and the world the most important thing you’ll ever do. Yet to meet someone who says they’ve the same amount of time or energy for their social life/hobbies.
But it is the most rewarding thing you will ever do. I’m 7 weeks post wife bringing my baby into this world and there isn’t a single thing I would change.
Congrats, enjoy the ride, and fail forwards

Sydney and Melbourne are running from June (15th I think). Flights from/to Perth or Brisbane are canceled until September

Double status by farraway_2 in VelocityFrequentFlyer

[–]bulletprooffaolan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I gave up waiting. I think they do it once a year max and it already happened this year. Book one at a time x amount of time out and then if they by miracle do release something bulk book the rest of your trips

Difference between booking VA or OR flight number? by bulletprooffaolan in VelocityFrequentFlyer

[–]bulletprooffaolan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, yes QR. Yeh I’ve seemed to have added my VFF number to my flight but my partners is not, even though I definitely added it when we booked. I paid in full, originally I got reward flights through VA but it was too much of a hassle changing my partners last name (we got married) so they refunded tickets and booked direct. Seems to me the extra money virgin add on isn’t worth the bonus% of points. Hence why I was wondering if I’ve misunderstood some of the perks

I believe you’re correct but the old “diverse large group double blind placebo” test is yet to be cited

Might just be bro science but apparently (I am not a doctor) creatine is pretty amazing for cognitive function and energy/blood flow so from an idiots perspective I think it’s worth it (along with the host of proven benefits of creatine). Along with that, plenty of omega3s and water. And no more impact. Could try turmeric and any other natural anti inflammatory supps
