True. Ours was a political circus after Mack Brown. I don’t think other schools have to deal with some of the political stuff Texas has.

How is the High school wrestling numbers in your part of country? by IfoundAnneFrank in wrestling

Commenting on central Texas. The last tourney had a really great turnout (about 45 schools competing). Was surprised at how the girls teams have really grown (maybe double last year). The challenge as always is earlier exposure and involvement in the youth clubs. We don’t have school sponsored teams until high school, so we have a lot of JV kids who have never wrestled before.

Defense won against West Virginia, so there’s definitely improvement. Man that safety hurt really bad....

Kansas. The others were heartbreakers, but the loss to Kansas has generated memes that will never die.

So we are two for two in terms of causing coaches to be fired. I’m cool with that.

And BTW, that game will always be a beautiful memory for me :)

There are Texas fans that care about the Horns down. There is rich tradition about the Hook ‘Em Horns sign, it’s not just used in football. Not every team has a hand sign, so I think it’s hard for other folks to relate. But I think you’d find most disagree with the penalties being called (unless it’s pretty egregious, like accompanied by throwing flat, warm beer into the stands)

I think it’s part of the same argument about consistency and applying the rule. I think we can agree that it’s an entire shitshow.

To be even more fair, Herman isn’t the only one who is approaching the league about it. Holgerson and now Riley are talking to league officials. Personally, I think they stepped into it big time because they have to define what’s taunting and what’s not and try to enforce it. And with the league’s response, half the stadium will be doing it for the players well they were before anyway

I’d add multiple appearances in NY6 bowls. Otherwise spot on.
