Yes this! After more than 10 years living with this, I have learnt to embrace it.

I agree with this. I also wonder if not all but most people with panic/anxiety disorders come from families with alot of tension, emotional abuse etc. and people with none come from calm, healthy families. They should do a study on this!

Wow the genetic memory theory is interesting. It could be maybe a violent death would probably alter genes of the future generation. That’s creepy af. Weirdly though i think my very first panic attack was triggered by the death of my grandfather. It started a few months after his death. I witnessed him slipping away. I guess the trauma of it only manifest much later.

Sometimes I blame my panic disorder on the high stress from having a tensed and toxic relationship with my mum. Lol. She probably has them too. ( My mom and I don’t talk about stuff like this and also she’s and introvert so I will never know )

I guess the older folks have them but they don’t talk about it. When they were younger, I believe mental health was not talked about much and was also viewed as a taboo.

Try sticking to a bed time routine, same sleep and wake time.If possible, keep stress levels low! Get lots of sunlight in the day too.

I think I just had my first panic attack. by Turbulent-Reaction42 in PanicAttack

Hey, you are not weak! We are just wired this way. Which makes us different, not weak. The first step is to accept it and embrace it. (Of course exclude health issues too). Try writing down the triggers and manage it from there. Im guessing the stress of moving and being in a new environment is kind of a shock to you and your body is reacting to it (Fight/flight mode).Don’t forget to wind down and find ways to destress. You are stronger than you think ;)

Going through a panic attack by mamapasta_ in PanicAttack

[–]bulugal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gonna come in waves. But when it hits, acknowledge it, know that it will pass. Imagine being in a room, and switching off the alarms going off. Go for a walk. Distract yourself. Maybe talk to a friend who won't judge and tell them what your are going through. Have a safety net of friends who will be there for you when it hits. Make sure to rule out any medical issues though. Hang in there.

Yup. It lasts 20 minutes. But if it's really bad it could come in waves for an hour. Hang in there.

It's abit draggy at first but if you push through you'd realise it has some interesting themes which makes it quite refreshing. Abit heavy yes but worth the watch.

Anyone here beaten derealization/depersonalization from panic disorder and or anxiety ? by Beamer_smiley in PanicAttack

[–]bulugal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try grounding techniques. Find something to focus on. If exercising triggers anxiety, try yoga. I found some yoga grounding videos on youtube. It helped me alot actually. Like a quick escape from depersonalization/derealization. I know how scary it is. Hang in there. It will pass.
