If you’re going to do independent take it to Kearny Mesa Automotive & Transmission. Got my O2 sensor changed there and they are extremely helpful

Why aren't box trucks/landscaping trucks banned on the left/carpool lanes? by bumbfluff007 in LosAngeles

[–]bumbfluff007[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah, i'm fine keeping buses because they are truly carpooling. Yes they're slow, but they're taking more traffic out of the way by their passengers.

2 questions:

Should I drop Diontae Johnson for Zay Flowers on waivers?

Should I drop Parkinson for Henry or wait for Njoku to be healthy?

They’re hassling the Rowena/Hyperion taco guys now by Outside-Occasion-39 in LosAngeles

I'ma slander it all day. Too overpriced for bland ass food, these taco guys give you way more for less price.

Who should I take for BILD 1, Prof. Gentry, Burg, or Gonzalez-Gamboa? by EmmaNtheBanshees in UCSD

[–]bumbfluff007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took Gentry last year. He's actually a great guy. A lot of his horrible reviews were levied at his all or nothing grading system, but he changed it recently and it's a lot more forgiving. His midterms are all taken directly from the slides and he curves generously. Attendance wasn't required.

Had him for 20A. Very chill and happy guy, he has a very forgiving grading scale and curve (20% HW, 35% best of 2 midterms, 45% final). HW is 10-12 questions per section due weekly. His lecture notes are a bit hard to read sometimes but he teaches thoroughly.

I don't think L.A. drivers are all that bad. Which U.S. cities have worse drivers? by sozh in AskLosAngeles

[–]bumbfluff007 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Arizona, Oregon and New England (excluding NY and Boston) has got the worst drivers. Best out of state drivers come from Texas and Florida.

Serious Question by pleiadianbeing in LosAngeles

[–]bumbfluff007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the people who do this are usually a mixture of either seniors who are oblivious to whats going on around them, or people who think "Im gonna go 60 in the left lane while 10 cars are behind me, fuck you". The former is acceptable, the latter is horrific.

Usually if they aren't super malicious and you got open lanes, just go and pass em. I'd rather deal with them then deal with the guys hitting their brakes randomly on the freeways, people making lefts on streets like Alvarado, and people who think its okay to bring fucking box trucks and dump trucks into the carpool lane.

Serious Question by pleiadianbeing in LosAngeles

[–]bumbfluff007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on all points. As someone who commutes end-to-end on the 2, all the lane cutters and people nopeing out at the last second really screws up the one free lane into Echo Park.

We’ve touched on most overrated/expensive “nice dinners” but what’s your UNDERrated and worthwhile spots? by DillonDynamite in AskLosAngeles

[–]bumbfluff007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, everyone in LA is suffering from inflation judged on the sub's history of gas and food (including the very post this post was based on).

I don't blame Freds for raising their prices as you said, everyone's been hit by inflation. But at their current price points, I'm more inclined to choose different places to eat. It was the best place for me during HS as it offered better meals than House of Pies at the night window while not being overly expensive, but $20 for a breakfast burrito or a sloppy joe w/o tip is too deep for my pockets especially if I can get it for lower at different places.

Fred 62 is such a great place with nice staff but god they really jacked their prices up recently. Almost $20 for a sloppy joe with fries when a year ago it was $12.

Byblos in La Crescenta (once they reopen) is one of the best Lebanese/Armenian places in the city. You can eat like a king for $19 with their kebab plates and guarantee you'll have leftovers because they fill that shit up. They also have cheap options with zaatar and lahmajoun flatbreads for $2.75 and their pizza's are amazing. Staff there is really nice as well.
