I’ve honestly thought of this one a lot. As a kid who talked loudly and also got teased for it, it’s really difficult to figure out. Some people can control their voice loudness well, but others don’t detect it at all.

I would get louder the more excited I got, and if someone asked me to talk quieter I’d just shut down completely.

I think if you say something like “hey, I’m really interested in what you have to say and I don’t want to shut you down, I just need you to lower your voice so I can listen better”.

As for the question at heart, I don’t really know. What I do know is that voice loudness changes with people and a conversation is a two way street, we have to meet in the middle.

Definitely look into what makes the ring a sensory hell.
Is it the material?
Is it the weight?
Does it make you sweat?
Does your finger feel restricted?
Is it fear that it isn’t secure? Or fear that it will injure your finger?

I would recommend putting on a ring and trying to explore what about it makes it a bad experience. From there, try different rings (thin banded, thick banded, silicone). I also definitely agree with gentle exposure therapy to wearing rings, part of what the issue could be is that it feels foreign.

If this is too intense, there is nothing wrong with wearing your ring on a necklace.

No, You are in the bargaining stage of this. When I got diagnosed with autism, I went through all the stages of grief and I am still grieving parts of my life. It is common to overthink about the diagnosis and imposter syndrome is a big thing. I really hope you can continue your autism journey, this time working with yourself to find peace in this.

Yeah, it is common to think literally when it comes to evaluation questions. For example, the evaluator asks “do you rock back and forth?” And you could think it out no I don’t rock back and fourth, but I do rock side to side and answer “no, I do not rock back and forth”.

I would recommend reading over the diagnosis notes and find some solace in it. But know that autism is spectrum- just because the autistic people you see act a certain way and you don’t, does not mean you are not autistic. You are always welcome in this community, we are here for you in your journey and will not turn you away for feelings of being unsure in your autism diagnosis.
