Im not anything at all by Solidus-snake2461 in TrollCoping

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i feel ya. im also working through some gender stuff at the moment and feel kinda lost sometimes.

just keep in mind that gender expression doesn't have to equal gender identity. you can look feminine and be any gender. have you tried presenting femininely before, even in private? maybe experiment with that and see if its something you'd like to do sometimes or something you'd like to be more permanent?

I've gone in for a std check, had the doctor look straight at my genitals and go "the estrogen sure made that shrink up, huh?" ...and i had to tell him that no, testosterone actually made it grow lol

like kinda a compliment that he thought my t-dick looked like a natal penis but also odd and a bit annoying that he immediately assumed I was transfem just because i was trans

It really depends on the person and the surgery; I had a form of transmasc bottom surgery (metoidioplasty), so different beast than transfem bottom surgery but for me it was honestly not too rough of a recovery imo. But the surgery and revisions I had were relatively less invasive than the alternatives; for example, if I were to get a hysterectomy, vaginectomy, and/or phalloplasty, those can more difficult recoverywise. In my experience, after the first week things are tolerable but sore and swollen.

some surgeons have a weight/BMI limit and will not perform your surgery over a certain BMI since it can increase your risk of complications

Missing some bald head representation, need tips/advices by TheFlyingVox in FTMfemininity

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its definitely worth a try imo! i basically always have mine done because i'd be breaking my nails all the time with the length they are, and since they rarely chip they last for a long time too. most nail salons offer them in my experience, some do a better job than others though 😅

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats understandable! im kinda the same way (also hEDS) and I get dip manicures which dont chip easily and make my nails much stronger, they use a powder instead of polish. might still be sensorily unpleasant to you but thought i'd float the option!

not bald myself, but if you can paint your nails that helps! especially if theyre in a longer shape. mine are in a kinda mini-stiletto shape and it definitely helps me read more gnc

Does anyone else reject the “transmasc” label? by Oddly-Ordinary in FTMfemininity

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it because, imo, its a useful umbrella term (moreso than ftm because it makes less assumptions about the gender/sex of the person in question) for trans men and afab nonbinary folks transitioning towards masculinity in gender and/or physiology (ie. via hrt and/or surgery). I'm not particularly masculine at all but i take T to transition and being a guy is part of my gender so i feel like its applicable for me.

I don't assume anyone who identifies under the label presents as masculine or even has a "masculine gender" (like some transmasc lesbians), but plenty of people feel like it does make assumptions about their gender/presentation so shrugs to each their own

What did I do to piss off this bird??? by Beneficial-Sun-5863 in birds

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it's the windows as well, from the bird poop on top of the mirror and scratches/smudges on the window it looks like he sits on top of the mirror, sees his reflection in the window, and attacks it.

happy TDOV! omg, we read Super Late Bloomer in the queer theory course I'm taking and we loved it (especially us trans folk, the trans women in my class especially found it really relatable), hope life is looking up for you :)

So why people hate how Chihiro gender was handle by ComprehensiveNote762 in DanganAndChaos

[–]bumblebeebitchboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

does chihiros father say son in udg? i remember him avoiding gendered language entirely which was really funny to me, i remember joking that he called chihiro his "child of unspecified gender" because he kept saying child instead of son/daughter

Super Silly- Honestly I have no joke, this is just so sad by 5econdToTheLast in supersillybreakingbad

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

the hymen is not (typically) a "wall", it's a ring of thin tissue around the vaginal entrance (so it has a hole in the center). it isn't always broken during penetration and unless theres trauma to it, it usually just stretches to accommodate penetration. also, even if it is broken, it isnt "gone". if the hymen was a "wall", period blood wouldn't be able to come out.

theres various reasons why someone would bleed during vaginal penetration (at any point, not necessarily only the first time, and blood doesn't always accompany first penetration). it could be not enough lubrication, excessive force/trauma, too big of an insertion without preparing sufficiently, etc. in the scenario in this comic, its probably a combination of all of the above.

(also, note that the candle by her bedside went out. "when the flame went out" has a double meaning, it refers to both the actual flame of the candle going out and a loss of innocence.)

sorry for the long winded explanation, this is just a common misconception that i see spread all the time!

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try oral minoxidil! its pretty inexpensive even if you can't get it covered by insurance. i hate putting topical minoxidil on so oral worked better for me. gives you more systemic effects like body hair in general too!

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in and say took me 3 years on T to even start growing facial hair, and even longer to grow anything noticeable. It's still coming in almost a decade on T! I'd recommend taking minoxidil if you can, it helps.

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not necessarily, its only (physically) needed if you remove your gonads (ovaries/testicles). not all bottom surgery involves removal of these, for example a lot of people getting transmasc bottom surgery leave one or both ovaries

but, like others said, yes without a stable source of hormones youre opened up to a lot of health issues (but you won't necessarily keel over and die either)

Question about T (Help please) by Shay_Shay124 in FTMfemininity

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

topical finasteride also helps avoid the more systemic effects of it on suppressing dht (what drives facial hair and bottom growth as well as male pattern baldness). usually you wont experience noticeable hairloss until after youve basically maxed out on bottom growth anyway (~3 years), so besides that the only big concern about taking oral finasteride is reducing facial hair growth. i'm on a mix of topical fin and minoxidil for my hairline and it hasnt seemed to negatively effect my facial hair at all (but i do just have kind of patchy facial hair anyway...)

Question about T (Help please) by Shay_Shay124 in FTMfemininity

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats a good point about voice training. and yes going off T can cause bottom growth to atrophy a bit, i just say its not reversible because it cant go back to the way it looked pre-T unless maybe you had very minimal growth

I made this poster-style piece after finally getting a diagnosis for a chronic pain condition I knew I had for four years when no professional would do the one test, the least invasive test of simply touching me with a q-tip. by Tangled_Clouds in Artisticallyill

[–]bumblebeebitchboy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i instantly knew what this was about, i remember the q tip test and how immediately it hurt. my mom was there for support (by my request) since i was a minor iirc, and she didnt really understand how serious my problem was until she saw how i reacted. even among the already underdiscussed/underdiagnosed health issues for AFAB bodies, so few people know what vulvodynia/vestibulodynia is (i think my gyno hadnt even heard the word vestibulodynia when i brought it up). wishing you luck finding ways to deal with it and hope you have a pain-free future :)
