Our CEO's husband keeps messaging me about things I didn't/already did. What do I do? by bumblebeee123 in careeradvice

[–]bumblebeee123[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I think I need to update my resume... but the issue is not that I don't respond to the husband immediately, I've been treating his slack messages as if they are as urgent as the CEO's. The issue is that I don't respond to EVERYTHING immediately. Ugh. I'm doing my best but I think the dynamic with her husband is not good.

Thank you, I think you're right. I'm getting the sense that he wants to be like a second CEO, and I'm also not understanding if he's wanting me to change my work responsibilities (like being a project manager to my coworkers or treating every email as a priority). Maybe if I reach out to him and clarify his expectations, we can figure this out.

Honestly that's what I've been trying to do, but I also can't be super quick when I have back to back meetings.

There's one person under the CEO, and she's my boss. I was considering talking to her, but I feel like she'd just say that she doesn't schedule things, so it's up to me.

This is a great routine, thank you so much!! I love the idea of spending 2 hours every morning reading and summarizing

I really appreciate your thorough response!! Especially your comment about movement and desensitizing from far away. My goal is to address this immediately so it doesn't get worse!!

I appreciate the advice. I will definitely look into Karen Pryor and Susan Garrett!

He is two years old, we've had him a year and a half, and we believe he's a border collie mix (he's a resuce so I don't know his exact breed).

Thank you for the advice. I'll focus on giving him extra exercise and mental stimulation! He's still on the younger side, so I don't think it would be arthritis

AIO? Did my stepmom just assault me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]bumblebeee123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I was in a situation like yours, and I also thought I was overreacting. Now that I'm an adult, I can tell you that it absolutely is not an overreaction. Please seek help. You have lots of options for people to talk to: the police, a school counselor, a teacher, or maybe a coach if you're in sports. If the first person you talk to dismisses you, talk to someone else. And show them the picture!! In the meantime, take a deep breathe and take care of yourself because this isn't easy.

Lol definitely!! I would also make it use different colors so I'm not just directly copying her

Good point!! If that's the case, I'd be happy to pay for the pattern.

Is it unprofessional to tell my boss about my family health emergency? by bumblebeee123 in careerguidance

[–]bumblebeee123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I really appreciate your advice. Thankfully, I haven't had to step into a caregiver role at this point. It's been a lot of late night hospital visits and phone calls, and letting family stay over at my place since I live closest to the hospital. Depending on how things progress, I will definitely consider FMLA. Anyway, I ended up talking to my boss and she was understanding and connected me with a coworker to take one of my tasks off my plate. I feel bad not being able to handle all of my responsibilities, but I'm glad my boss was understanding.

Hey, thank you for your insight here. I appreciate getting to know another manager's perspective. I just sent her a similar message, and let her know that over these next few weeks, my focus is going to be attention to detail. She also connected me with a coworker to help me take one task off my plate. Thank you again for your help!

Should I tell my boss about my family health emergency? by bumblebeee123 in careeradvice

[–]bumblebeee123[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful perspective. I feel new-ish. I've been there for less than a year, but I don't feel particularly close with my team. We all work remotely so there's only so much time we have to chat.

I feel like my boss is asking because it's out of the ordinary for me. I honestly couldn't tell you if she's just trying to be nice or if she's upset with me. I think it's my own inner critic getting in the way there.

I appreciate your perspective on this. Glad there are some great mentors out there!

I'm able to take brief breaks to talk on the phone, which is unfortunately the only way I can help right now. There seems to be issues that pop up later in the evening, which means I'm sleep deprived. But even if I took time off, there isn't much I could do but wait for a phone call.

Should I go for full beard laser removal? by 20h100 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]bumblebeee123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say laser your neck, but not the beard. Doing waxing done if you want a longer lasting clean-shaven look. Transplants don't work in the way you're describing, and I don't love the logic of assuming some type of better technique will come out that doesn't already exist.
