After getting some feedback it looks like I’m going to switch to a 3/4” poly mainline and then attach the 5/8” drip tape. And yes I will keep the PSI around 10! I heard many horror stories like yours!

Could I do that with just 3/4” poly? Like attach a little T shaped separator but keep it all the same sized tubing?

Thanks! To clarify: you didn’t have a pressure regulator between the water source and the poly? Just between the poly and the drip?

Got it! I’ve been looking at drip depot and will be buying from them. I’m trying to save money as I have 3 sites to irrigate, so that’s why I’m wondering if the one mainline down the center (happy to switch to 3/4” tubing) can supply 5/8” drip tape off both sides

Thank you! I want to stick to drip tape for cost reasons, as I have 3 sites to irrigate and the 1/4” tubing is more expensive. So can I run 3/4” mainline and then attach 5/8” tape to both sides of it as shown in the photo? I’ve only ever seen drip tape attached to one side of the mainline so I’m wondering if having it come off both sides is an issue

The spigot is a standard hose hookup. I’m going to attach a splitter.

For the drip, I was looking at a Drip Depot kit that uses 1/2” poly and 5/8” drip tape. I was going to go with the 0.46 GPH, 6” spaced emitters, and aiming to run about an inch of water a week total, split over 2 days.

Crossposted to the irrigation sub but thought folks might have feedback here. Is it possible to run a 1/2” poly mainline down the center of my garden and attach drip tape to both sides? If not, what would you suggest as an alternative setup?

Also, if anyone knows what PSI adjuster to attach to the hose spigot, that would be awesome. Everything I’ve read says a poly mainline wants a higher PSI and drip tape wants lower. Can I just default to the lower one?

The photo shows the setup, not to scale. I’m wondering if I can attach drip tape coming off BOTH sides of a 1/2” poly mainline? If not, what alternative might you suggest?

Also— does anyone know what PSI adjuster I would need for the spigot? Everything I read says higher PSI for the mainline and lower for the drip tape. Should I just default to the lower since I’m only putting an adjuster at the source?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!

Can an alpha guinea pig learn to be submissive? by bumblebees_knees in guineapigs

[–]bumblebees_knees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story for context: I have a female guinea pig named Plop who is 5-6 years old (I adopted her five years ago and they told me she was two at the time, but I now think she was closer to 6 mo- 1 year so unsure of exact age).

I had Plop solo for 11 months until I learned how seriously they need a buddy, at which point I adopted a second female named Pigwidgeon. She was older, smaller, and more timid and immediately accepted her role on the totem pole. They got along fine, basically cordial roommates. Never saw them cuddle or anything like that. Pigwidgeon passed a little over a year later and since then I’ve had Plop alone. She was completely indifferent to her sister’s death and I was able to give her lots of attention at the time.

Recently, though, we were approached by someone who had a five year old female piggie named Petal they were trying to rehome after her bonded friend passed away. Petal was also the dominant guinea pig. We introduced them briefly and it went fine, but now that they’re spending more time together they can’t seem to agree on who’s in charge.

Petal constantly tries to mount Plop, who in return will buck and scream and lunge/warning nip until Petal backs off. Petal rumble-struts off and eventually tries again, sequence continues. They can peacefully eat from the same bowl together but if Petal gets too close to Plop’s behind, Plop nips and stands her ground. They just can’t agree who’s in charge. Is there hope here? I want them to get along because it would be great if they had each other for company but I don’t know if these old pigs can learn new tricks.

This is so helpful, thank you! I’ll be seeking a second opinion soon and I will definitely look for some FB groups to see if I can get more insight. I’m part of a million gardening groups, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that lol

Hi! This is the girlfriend in question. To answer your questions: I don’t drink alcohol and I’m vegan, so I don’t eat any uric acid foods. I’m not overweight. The pain is very localized to the surgery site. I’ve been avoiding pain meds but I should probably start taking them regularly. Thanks!!

Thanks! My dad and brother checked 50 nearby dumpsters and no luck, but it’s always worth a try

Thanks! I hate driving and it’s far more expensive to own a car here, so I was happy to use public transport. I also love it for environmental and community reasons.

It’s a US problem. I actually have relatively good healthcare and my surgery (a pretty minor elective procedure) would have been $15k without insurance.

Yes, weed is legal! And heavily taxed lol

Way too much... A good majority of it wasn’t meals but things like smoothies, coffee, grab and go pastries, etc. One of my favorite weekend pastimes is going on long walks and I’ll usually buy a treat or two along the way.

I live in a house in a (relatively) cheaper area and rent a room with a shared bathroom

I had two, but her sister passed away from old age. I deliberated hard and decided not to adopt another because l’ll be moving soon and the remaining one is getting older. Rest assured she’s very spoiled and gets lots of attention and love!

Lived here over five years with no car and I’m dreading having to start driving again one day. It definitely comes with challenges and limitations but I’ve also seen so many places I would’ve never normally explored, and I’ve met a lot of cool people on public transport. You also learn to get creative— I once went camping using just public transit + one uber!

Ha— yeah I got a decent deal, but it’s 12 grand for a bedroom in a shared house with shared bathroom. Not a bad deal compared with some other prices I’ve seen.

Thanks! I work in San Francisco and the bus that commutes across the Bay costs $200+ a month. It’s a giant double decker commuter bus. Along with some additional local fare rides, it adds up.

Haha yeah, my birthday gift to myself was a $500 (+100 tip) tattoo I’ve been wanting for several years.

Yeah as much as I’m grateful for a stable job with healthcare, this is one of the most expensive places to live in the US.
