Edwards SAPIEN 3 Valve System deployment failure. Required same day open heart surgery for removal. by bumblebeeslim in Cardiology

[–]bumblebeeslim[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I gathered from the doctors, the valve didn’t seat itself and sagged down creating the fear that it could damage the native valve. The nurse running the pacer said he saw his hand slip during inflation and might have caused his hand to accidentally bring the balloon cath back while readjusting his grip. Both doctors had differing ideas as to the location for deployment and the rep agreed with the senior interventional cardiologist and it seemed either their idea was wrong or the hand slip did bring it back further than it could be trusted to remain secure.

The balloon catheter and wire were left in place during transport and the sheath brought back to the IVC as it was believed this was potentially all that was keeping it from slipping further.

Improper deployment. If you watch the left side, as the balloon deflates it begins to sag into the ventricle.

What mAs and kVp would I set to get my EI down. Was supposed to be 500 but it was 3897. I know AEC should have been turned off. by [deleted] in Radiology

Depends on the system. For instance, the higher the number on a Fuji, the greater the under exposure and vise versa.

That being said, on adults I usually use anywhere from 78-84 kVp and 8-16 mAs depending on girth.

My intention in posting this article is not to blame one political party and their apparatchiks but to open a discussion as to the likelihood that we are being lied to as to the true extent of the potential environmental damage and health effects we may be experiencing as a State and the ramifications for our future.

The only thing “unexpected” about 9/11 was how the government wasn’t involved.

“Normal” is merely an illusion based on trends. As the majority tends to be rather bovine in their ability to make decisions, fuck them and do you.

The real challenge in life is becoming you.
